Re: Drive Space Usage

I'm not too sure it's a bug, but more a rounding or calculation error? Looking at your df -k for / total: 236428024 used: 2846308 free: 221571836 you already mentioned the 5% margin for user root (I totally forgot about that), it pans out almost perfectly. 236428024 - 2846308=233581716 233581716 x 9...

Re: What the !!?? is this?

odd that it appeared only yesterday, and that is has it's own mount-point, but nothing too worry about :) I've had this on my work laptop since the release of RHEL6, late last year. If you don't modify anything it will be purely administrative. I didn't go in-depth yet, but if you look at for instan...

Re: Weird (wireless) connectivity issue

This is a REALLY awkward situation! If any, I would expect problems on the laptop, not the server!? No expert, but educated guess would be the router is at fault here, causing havoc with a bad routing-table (initiated by the laptop shutting down?) or something like that... As you've already troubles...

Re: I have to keep renewing my user login

My screen dims down to save energy if I don't do something for a few minutes - like when I'm watching Youtube. I normally tap a key to bring the screen up again but when I do this I have to login again. This is a nuisance. I've tried to open Login Screen Settings but this is greyed out. It may be t...

Re: Drive Space Usage

Hi folks, New Mint user here after moving over from the latest Ubuntu...(ARGH). Using Mint 11 and have installed twice. Removed and re-created partitions both times. The problem I am having is that when I go into Nautilus, it reports that I have 213 Gig free. I have a 250 gig drive with a 2 gig swa...

I wouldn't mind raising a bugtracker-ticket, but wouldn't know against what, or where for that matter... Maybe http://bugzilla.kernel.org/ ?

Re: Can I Change Computer Name?

Cheers for addition Hyc! :) However, on Ubuntu and any of its offspring, this will not work out-of-the-box, as the password for the user root is unknown to us. You would have to use sudo su and enter your own password. Besides that, gedit is by far easier to new Linux-users. :) Just to be complete (...

Interesting: http://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20111107#news Nice find :) And of course, the haters start hating.... :( Some DistroWatch readers have started wondering whether Mint's ascend is a result of fraudulent loading of the Linux Mint page. If this is the case, we have not been able to...

Re: LinuxMint Number 1 on Distrowatch

Ubuntu invested *a lot* over the years to make "linux" searches turn to "ubuntu" searches: 90+ % of the articles on the web describing how to do something in linux is actually titled "how to do something in Ubuntu". So when you want answers for your linux question, the best bet is to do a search wi...

Re: Did I Install wrong version (oem) of mint?

Thank you for both for your replies. The reason I was wondering about the oem version is that the I can only log in under oem(temp user),the audio does not work, and the boot splash would not display at start up. I know these are easily solvable issues but before I started asking (stupid) questions ...

Well since this seems to be a quick spam and run, one question, Does any of the OS systems you use their logos to make money from get any of the money you make? Yes they do, well, Mint at least . off-topic: The stickers looks nice, but they seems to not be delivered... :( My order is dated 13/10/20...

Re: Mint 11 LiveUSB Freezes Like Clockwork

I'm experiencing the exact same thing.

For now I solved it by powering down/disconnecting my eSATA-drive. In your case the "Sil3122" might be the culprit. Did you try booting with that controller disabled?

Good luck!

Re: Problem with Package Manager [no longer solved]

You may want to try this possible solution:

Code: Select all

sudo rm -vf /var/cache/apt/*.bin
sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get -f install
This will "reinitialize" the manager after throwing away the trash.

Good Luck!
