Re: Mint 12 Tips & Tricks Guide (updated Jan 10)

Do this step by step for the weather “APPLET” (weather “EXTENSION” is done differently): Drag n' drop the applet to where you want it placed. If placed in bottom panel then press alt/F2, type r, press enter to restart cinnamon or the popup will open in the wrong direction. When all is working you c...

Re: Mint 12 Tips & Tricks Guide (updated Jan 10)

Have you downloaded the weather applet or the weather extension? They are not activated the same place. At one time I'm sure I've done both. After your last tip it worked after I clicked the extension, then it quit working. When I look at Cinnamon Settings there is an extension checked. When I use ...

Re: Mint 12 Tips & Tricks Guide (updated Jan 10)

Open cinnamon settings, goto extensions. Do you see any extensions listed there? If so which ones (example: Weather Indicator)? Are any selected (checked)? This was the key. The weather applet wasn't checked, it checked it, it works. That was the piece I was missing. Thanks. Well, it worked for a w...

@antiquexray, To get the weather extension working in cinnamon try this thread: Re: Weather applet is a NINJA Keep in mind that this is an extension so the version number should match the version you are using. current is 1.3.0 next will be 1.3.1. You can go ahead and add both now to be ready for t...

If yes, you could reinstall it on the one without "Open as administrator".
sudo apt-get install --reinstall nautilus-gksu
You need to log out and then log in again.
That didn't work. Do you think I'm on the path for a reinstall?

Cannot Run as Adminstrator Linux Mint 12

The test box is working just fine, and after throughly testing it, I've made the decision to install Mint 12 on the other one. Here's my problem, on the new install I do not have the ...

Re: KDE Shisen-Sho

With your file manager go to your home folder, and select to view hidden files (on GNOME Nautilus this is CTRL+H, not sure for KDE but it is probably in the view menu or something). Then look for a folder like ".shisen" or something similar. Alternatively, from the terminal: ls -a ~ No luck with th...

Re: LMDE 201108 RC (Gnome & Xfce) released!

First I'd like to say that I really want LMDE to work. I have a feeling it is going play a bigger and bigger part in Mint's future. However, I'm having a hard time with it. I realize this is an RC release, but still, here's my problem. I have an HP Netbook with a Broadcom wireless card so I know I h...
