Trouble Shared Printing Wireless Network

I have a wireless network, different models and manufacturers of laptops and netbooks, and a desktop computer with an HP F4240 printer connected to it. With Mint 10 I easily set up a shared network using Samba so I could print from anyone of my various wireless computer to my desktop computer printe...

Help me share files on a wireless network

OK, here's the story (I don't know the technical terms). The phone company brought us a white box that I connected to a wireless Belkin router and then back to my desktop running Vista (Vista, yeah I know, but it's for my boys' school work). I now have hard-wired and wireless net access to 1 desktop...

Re: Future of Mint: Ubuntu or Debian Based

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this posting. Now, how about my 2 cents :) If I were to guess, predict, had a knife put to my throat, etc., I'd guess that moving Mint to a debian based distro has been kicked around quite a bit. I base this on the fact that many don't like the direction Ubuntu ...

Mint 10, LMDE, and Broadcom 43XX

I’ve been doing a comparison of Mint 10 and LMDE on my HP Netbook 210 with the dreaded Broadcom 43XX wireless card. Now in my Mint 10 phase I find that I get the error "E: firmware-b43-installer: subprocess installation script returned error exit status 1" when updating. I think I need to update the...

Re: Should their be a wake for Unity ?

As far as I'm concerned, it should not be so much a question of a a wake for Unity, but an exorcism for Ubuntu.

Re: how to turn mousepad gestures off? affecting browser

I had a similar problem. I finally discovered that I was inadvertently dragging my thumbs across the touchpad when typing. My solution was to disabled the touchpad. Sorry I can't help any more than that.

You can have it now...
The obvious advantage I see is a rock-hard, stable box with little fear of it breaking. What is, or are, the disadvantages?

Re: Future of Mint: Ubuntu or Debian Based

I would love to have a Linux Mint Debian Stable (LMDS)! A perfect marriage! The stability of Debian, and the fine tuning of Mint. Brilliant! You can have it now. Install LMDE. Change the repos to point to Squeeze rather than testing, then: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade Once it's ...

Future of Mint: Ubuntu or Debian Based

As a long time Mint user, I've seen Clem take this distro from little know to one of the tops. As I now play around with LMDE I ponder the pros and cons of these version and wonder which will emerge on top. What is your opinion?

LMDE and Netbook Screen Size

I have a system76 netbook that I have loaded LMDE onto. I have found is when I try to setup the Evolution account the setup window is so large I cannot see to click on the forward button at the bottom of the window. How can I shrink this window or scale down the screen?

Re: Linux Mint 10 and wireless--Solved

I too have a wireless issue, albeit a minor one. With past version of Mint the wireless would launch at boot up. Now with Julia it doesn't. I have to manually start it. Is there something I have to configure to get it to launch automatically? Actually, there was something I forgot to do. I had to c...

Hold on, it's back. I don't know exactly how, but it showed back up. I did run a command that Clem sent me years ago when having trouble with the menu, but I don't have time to look it back up now. I let you know. thanks for your help.

When you Right click the panel, select <Add to panel> do the other menu options show up in the dialog which opens? namely -- <Main Menu> (The main Gnome Menu) or <Menu Bar> (A custom menu bar) If the others are there and mintmenu is not, you could always try rebooting and then see if it is there. I...
