Re: Is archive.removed,net down?

If archive.removed is "normally" down, what is it's purpose.

BTW It's been "normally" "up" for the last 6 months.

Re: Linux Mint 12 Freezes at Login

Sounds bad! You can look at (or change) your hard disk by booting from a live CD/DVD. 1) Boot from DVD 2) Find your / partition - it's quite likely sda1 3) Create a directory /thing [this is actually a virtual directory located in memory only] 4) Enter "mount /dev/sda1 /thing" 5) To look at your log...

I have tried both the original Mint 12 RC & the recent "Softpedia" release - but only as live disks!
The newer version is very much more polished - all Mint 12 needs is an easy way to install Ubuntu style themes and it is done.

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" RC released!

chown has a -R (recursive) parameter, so you could carefully do ALL files.

Think about any symbolic links you may have.
This is risky, so read the man page first.

Re: Grub starts only in command prompt

It says you have 3 disks. Nothing mentioned about sda Windows on sdb Linux is in a logical partition of sdc - what else is lurking in there? Since Linux and Windows appear to be on separate disks, overwriting the boot sector of sdc could not possibly affect Windows. You could switch between booting ...
