Re: Another DE option for Mint 12 - Cinnamon

What people liked about Gnome 2 in Mint wasn't just the one panel and right-clicking on it to add launchers, that's about 0,8% of Gnome 2, the rest was the customisability and system fine tuning options of Gnome 2 as a whole, it was Compiz, the myriad of themes available and whatnot - the panel is ...

Agreed, if they appear in a desktop corner they make sense near the one hosting the system tray.

Re: Another DE option for Mint 12 - Cinnamon

Hello Clem Hi, just a few things: - Thanks for the feedback. I do read it here and on github as well (you can use the "issues" section on https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/issues for this). Yep, I read about it, but I'll be using that for more to the point stuff, so far I just gave my ...

Re: Another DE option for Mint 12 - Cinnamon

Here's my take: - the cinnamon menu feels faster than the standard LM 12 MGSE one - unpleasant waste of space because of the text labels for 3 buttons on the left (Lock screen, Logout, Quit), also aesthetically unpleasant (application buttons above are 'floating' in a semi-empty container): use tool...

Re: Another DE option for Mint 12 - Cinnamon

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but most of Cinnamon appears to be coded in Javascript, as is MGSE -- meaning, the menu is pretty slow. (Which is also my main gripe with the menu in MGSE.) Do you have any plans to speed it up by using something other than a scripting language? (One would assume tha...

Re: Poll: The future look of Gnome Shell in Linux Mint

I would like a top panel, hope that it will be easy in LM 13 to switch from bottom (too Windows-like) to top (where the main items like menus, favorites, notifications etc. were in Gnome 2.x).

Re: Wine/Crossover sub-menus missing

Did you manage to solve this issue? I found out that it happens with other menus (using Cardapio instead of the standard LM12 one).

Re: Duplicate entries in the GS Extension area

I guess this is happening to me only since I got no answer so far ... shall I open a bug report? (unless I'm doing something horribly wrong of course :)

Duplicate entries in the GS Extension area

Hello everybody, I noticed that when I launch Gnome Tweak Tool there are several duplicate entries in the "Shell extension" tab: Shutdown Menu User Themes Applications Menu I checked local and global installs (.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/ and /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/, I h...

Re: Mint 12: No "Recent Items" in the Overlay

Thanks for this info. I both have a separate /home partition which I share with my previous 10.10 install (I guess that might be a bad idea, considering the changes that occurred >_<) and used Ubuntu Tweak in the past. WIll look at it when I get back home :)

Re: Mint 12: No "Recent Items" in the Overlay

I have exactly the same problem: no recent item list in the Gnome Shell overlay. Any ideas?

Unfortunately this is quite frustrating, if I want to open something recent I have to launch the application first then look in its recent items list...
