Re: Strange behavior since cinnamon 1.6 update

Your description fits, at least in part, with this reported and now closed issue: https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/issues/705. I only suffer from the occasional freezes since I upgraded to Cinnamon 1.6 but, in my case, they seem to be related to any disk/media activity: every time I insert a US...

Re: Workspace keyboard shortcuts not working

I resolved this recently after upgrading to Cinnamon 1.6 (guess it should go in a FAQ): basically you have to use dconf-editor (package name is dconf-tools iirc) and go to org > gnome > desktop > wm > keybindings to set them.

Re: Any news on Cinnamon?

Solved point n. 2: you have to use dconf-editor to set the desired shortcut ... >_<

Found a new little hiccup: Cinnamon freezes for about 3-4 seconds, then starts again as if nothing had happened. Seems to happen more frequently when I plug in/out USB keys. Anybody's seen this?

Re: Any news on Cinnamon?

Ok, I made the jump and I'm currently suffering from a couple of hiccups, nothing really serious but a bit annoying: 1. Icon names' color on the desktop is now a dark grey instead of white, unfit both for light and dark backgrounds (I think I saw this mentioned elsewhere, will check the thread); 2. ...

If you're running 1.4 under Linux Mint 13 (Maya) you can install Cinnamon 1.6 by enabling the unstable repository (Romeo).

Anybody upgraded via the Romeo packages? Any problems? (don't want to sound over-cautious, but my LM 13 install is my working environment ;)

Re: A couple of remarks about future versions of Cinnamon

I guess it is our different perceptions of a dock. Personally, I've always considered a dock to be designed for application launching only. Thus Xfce doesn't count, and GNOME 3's dock was rather hidden, so I didn't really consider it. Unity, it also had lenses and dash so I didn't count it. MacOS, ...

Re: Adding scroll bar `up' and `down' arrows in LM 13

In any case the scroll increments are different when using he arrows or the keys. That's another good point, but I'm afraid that if theme designers are not convinced we'll have to either use beautiful themes with less than functional (and ugly looking) scrollbars, or use one of the few (and often u...

Re: Any news on Cinnamon?

And now we got Cinnamon 1.6! But I've read it won't be available for Maya through the usual channels any time soon... Great news! Except the part where we have to wait if we want it on Maya ;) hmm so is it safe to install on maya via the daily ppa or is there a stable ppa somewhere i wonder? I'd de...

Re: A couple of remarks about future versions of Cinnamon

Remeber that Cinnamon's vision is to be a traditional desktop. As far as I know, no desktop environements come with a native dock except for enlightenment. But enlightenment has all sorts of crazy stuff such as penguins drilling holes in your windows, so I don't think that should count. You mean no...

That sounds weird, at this point I'd say that someone more expert than me may help if you provide more info (e.g. output of Cinnamon crashing, X server log, etc.).

Re: UI Freezing several times per day

Similar setup (nVidia GPU here to on my main box) but I haven't had any freeze in quite a long time, have you tried using the proprietary drivers for your GPU?

Re: A couple of remarks about future versions of Cinnamon

- it would be nice to have a fast, simple dock as part of the Cinnamon desktop: I know I can install many (have actually played with Cairo dock for a while, sort of overkill: I’m thinking of an alternative to the panel launchers), but I’d rather that it’d be chosen and possibly integrated by the de...

Re: A couple of remarks about future versions of Cinnamon

Looks good enough (nothing earth-shattering, mind you, at least for someone like me who's happy enough with the current window navigation stuff), also nice that they're costantly improving the code quality. Hope 1.6 is out soon :) BTW, still missing a short "Cinnamon is a modern desktop environ...

Re: Adding scroll bar `up' and `down' arrows in LM 13

They would be handy if you are using the laptop from further away- where the keyboard isnt immediately accessible. Seems quite a rare situation. Being too far from the keyboard but yet being able to read the screen. Anyway, most mice have scrollwheels. Consider that: - laptops may have up/down arro...

If you are on Maya (LM 13) you should have v. 295.49 as package nvidia-current-updates: have you tried upgrading to that?

Re: Panel launcher applet just disappeared!

I really doubt that installing the Nautilus patch could disrupt Cinnamon's layout, moreover looking at the list of items you submitted it seems that the panel launcher applet is still there, only misplaced. Why don't you try to restore the default config first, to see if it brings back the applet in...
