Re: We need more testers to the new incoming repo (how-to)

UP7 is out: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=187&t=144198
I'd check the repositories, update and try to see if there are broken packages in terminal: Ctrl+ALt+F1 - you go back to GUI with Ctrl+ALt+F6 (or F7 try).
Search on forum. There should be either incoiming OR latest repositories.

Re: UPDATE PACK 7 FEEDBACK THREAD

Testing in VirtualBox, Cinnamon 32-bit with also MATE installed, today. During the installation, there were 4 questions whether to replace conf. files. In 3 cases I chose to keep existing files: /etc/issue, /etc/issue.net, /etc/os-release because for example "-Linux Mint Debian Edition \n \l" was su...

Re: Can't update libreoffice latest realease

There is some discussion at http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=200&t=135428 about UP7. It even mentions Firefox which is regularly updated. I'd say it's LibreOffice which is properly updated not in Debian. I can see that UP7 is near, it's in "incoming" repos of LMDE, as announced on http://...

Re: Cinnamon with XRDP Remote Desktop

I work in a company where only Windows desktops are used. Users are accustomed to it and some large scale replacement is not an option. But, we would like to offer Linux to some mind-open users. We have prepared a system for Linux desktops and we'd like to promote it now. Our idea was to offer every...

Re: Cinnamon with XRDP Remote Desktop

Yes. The same problem in Mint 15. Using sesman-Xvnc module, I get "Cinnamon crashed" and "running in Fallback mode". This is the only module which works, although not with Cinnamon as we'd wanted. Rdp-any gives a blank screen. Using freerdp-any module, I get "error loading libxrdpfreerdp1.so". Using...

Re: LiveCD Update - Cinnamon broken

I made another test, this time to make an updated linuxmint-15-cinnamon-dvd-64bit.iso , using Ubuntu Builder on Linux Mint 15 64-bit. This time, the result was better. Still, I get login screen. But, Cinnamon is fine. This may have to do with Mint or Cinnamon version (I don't think the reason is a p...

Re: Linux Mint 15 "Olivia" RC released!

Is it just me or is the Users and Groups applet missing from the control center? (Mate 32bit edition). Oops. Package mate-system-tools is not installed for some reason. Install it to get that applet. And for LM15, it's the "gnome-system-tools" package that needs to be installed. :D OK, the same in ...

Re: LiveCD Update - Cinnamon broken

Relating to my question, I used UCK before, but Ubuntu Builder gives more control, so I tried it. It's interesting that Update Manager uses upgrade, not dist-upgrade. Anyway, the result is the same with both. I had the same result also with Customizer, so I concluded that the problem is with Cinnamo...

LiveCD Update - Cinnamon broken

I tried to make an updated linuxmint-13-cinnamon-dvd-32bit.iso, using Ubuntu Builder from https://launchpad.net/ubuntu-builder/ on Ubuntu Raring 13.04. Customizing Mint should be supported because it says "..you can customize, for example, Linux Mint (based on Ubuntu)..". I used apt-get dist-upgrade...

Re: Normal login and then just shadows

Let me add here that, if I (blindly manage to) run an application such as LibreOffice, it works and I can see it entirely. I just don't see Ubuntu's menus and messages.

Normal login and then just shadows

I have Lenovo Y560 with Intel/ATI HD 5730 switchable graphics. So far, I couldn't use Cinnamon on Ubuntu (Ubuntu 12.04, 12.10) at all (couldn't log in at all). I tried installing Catalyst drivers before, but it never worked. I think it had to do with my mux switch and now they support only muxless s...

Re: Cinnamon problems

I'm really dazzled here....You guys want tor un Ubuntu and as desktop environment you want Cinnamon.... Why not installing Mint with Cinnamon as operating system??? Mint is based on Ubuntu, so you still can use the PPA's you were using. And it's much easier and user-friendlier. Let me give you my r...

Re: Can't update libreoffice latest realease

I read http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=190&t=128503 and I'm still not clear why LibreOffice is at version 3.5. in LMDE, when that version is outdated and not supported by LibreOffice. Stable version now is 3.6.x. and 3.5 support is discontinued I can see that LO is at 3.5 at http://packa...

Re: Cinnamon doesn't work in my Mint 12

I have a problem with Mint 12 GNOME. I see that Cinnamon 1.4.0 is installed, but it doesn't look like that when I log in with it, looks like log in with Gnome (reinstall didn't help). Ok. Figured it out myself. Cinnamon requires 3D graphics support. That's it. I have Lenovo with ATI ™ Mobility Rade...
