Re: Irritating Firefox Add On Solicitation

Okay....these are the addons I'm getting browser tabs for: Global Menu Bar Integration 2.0.1 Mint Search Enhancer 1.0 English (South Africa) Language Pack 8.0 English (GB) Language Pack 8.0 I do not check the add addon box and just hit the continue button. Eventually, during the day, the offers simp...

Re: Irritating Firefox Add On Solicitation

Some sites have their own addons, I'm guessing javascript on the sites is detecting you're using Firefox and will show the alert offering you their addons as it's coded to do. I've noticed that even if I have the addon installed, it offers me the same thing. I'm guessing the javascript does enough ...

Re: Mint 12 very difficult to configure

<<<---------snipped----------------- Mate is a terrible mess ---------------snipped---------->>> I disagree. It's new and obviously has more work to be done but it's not a terrible mess. I am using it just as effectively as anything else. It's already a viable alternative to Gnome 3. Both Gnome 3 a...

[Resolved] Irritating Firefox Add On Solicitation

Mint 12

When I start Firefox 8.0 I keep getting 4 to 5 open tabs that ask me if I want to install various addons. I don't accept the addons but eventually when I open my browser again they are all back again. Anyone know what this is about?

Re: Trash Launcher For Panel

For Caja to add a launcher to click and show the trash can folder and contents. The command is caja trash:/// Yup, you are right. I attempted this previously but I was doing it as a location launcher like I did for trash:/ and it failed. Duh. I am so blind. Obviously, I wasn't calling a location in...

Re: Trash Launcher For Panel

I just created a location launcher on the panel and used trash:/ as the location and that at least opens the trash folder and trash functions via nautilus. I would guess there's some sort of location path that would bring it up via caja but I have absolutely no idea what it would be. I haven't even ...

Re: Trash Launcher For Panel

Okay. I downloaded it. The readme says to place the extracted folder in ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/ and restart the shell. I did this but assume there's more than that that I must do because I get absolutely no results.

[SOLVED] Trash Launcher For Panel

I prefer placing my trash launcher on my top panel rather than the desktop itself. I note that there isn't a launcher available in the add list for the panels and I also am unable to drag the desktop trash icon to the panel to create a launcher in that manner. Does anyone know how to manually create...

Re: Need Clarification Concerning MGSE & MATE

Okay, I now have a MATE oriented desktop and have set it up to my liking. It has a few quirks and several things I'd like to be different but I suspect some things will change through time and I surely can live with those that don't. I don't care for the new Gnome 3 at all. Sometimes new ain't bette...

Re: Mint 12 New Install Repo Difficulties

I am going to do a new install of Mint 12. I have a number of strange behaviors going on. I will download the dvd version of the installer and try that. Therefore I am considering this thread as closed and will start out fresh.

[SOLVED] Need Clarification Concerning MGSE & MATE

My understanding is that Mint supports both MGSE & MATE for Gnome. My thinking is that MGSE basically makes Gnome 3 run more like Gnome 2 and that MATE is an actual fork of Gnome 2. If my assumptions are not correct, someone please correct me. My questions are: 1. Once I install Mint 12 what steps d...

Re: Mint 12 New Install Repo Difficulties

Okay. I will try that. Right now I am running into even more difficulties. Whenever the "screen blanker" or whatever it is that replaces the screensaver activates I cannot clear it by moving the mouse or by hitting any keys, etc. The only way I get my screen back is to do a cold reboot. I'm probably...

[SOLVED] Mint 12 New Install Repo Difficulties

I just installed Mint 12 32bit. This is my first venture with Mint. I installed from the Live CD. On my very first update I am unable to get several of my repos to load. Here's my error messages: Failed to fetch http://packages.medibuntu.org/dists/oneiric/free/binary-i386/Packages Unable to connect ...
