Re: Thunderbird - losing profile

Are you trying to access with your Linux Thunderbird the profile directory on the windows partition? Was that profile created from the windows Thunderbird? If yes, that indeed might be a problem? Even the codes used for "Return" in text files is different from Linux and Windows. I don't know if the ...

Re: start VM using gnome-schedule

can you post the exact line you put into the scheduler?

or maybe add a screenshot like in your original post, but one where you can actually read what's in the fields.

Re: start VM using gnome-schedule

Re: start VM using gnome-schedule

thanks for the help, but when i try to run your script it doesn't work. i named it start_vm and this is what's in the file: #! /bin/sh vmbxmanager startvm [SuperiorXPx64] if i just run it, it doesn't do anything. if i tell it to run in terminal, it doesn't do anything either. Check the spelling. It...

Re: start VM using gnome-schedule

i tried the full path to vboxmanager. it will execute in terminal but not in gnome-schedule. quotes didnt help, and im not sure about how to do a script file. That's pretty simple. I have a directory called "bin" in my home directory, where I keep all my scripts. If you don't have one already, crea...

Re: start VM using gnome-schedule

did you try with the full path to VBoxManager?
Maybe you need to put the whole line in quotes, because the parameters are not included when it executes?
Try to put the command in a skript file and execute that!

Re: Thunderbird - losing profile

That part is usually taken care of by just putting the home directories on a separate partition or even a different disk. That should be the recommendation for /home anyway. They (if you really need to reinstall your system), you will not touch the home dir which contains all your personal settings....

Re: start VM using gnome-schedule

Sorry, I'm biased, when I read VM, I think VMware :) Anyway, quick google search for "virtualbox start vm terminal" yields for example: http://www.howopensource.com/2011/06/how-to-use-virtualbox-in-terminal-commandline/ with more info than you are asking for :) Now to start a virtual mach...

Re: start VM using gnome-schedule

Hi, I start my VM as Startup application. It runs a little script, which first checks various things (like network, on AC power yes or no etc) before actually starting the VM. The final command issued is then: vmplayer --unity /path_to_vmx_file/name_of_VM.vmx This starts the VM in unity mode. Just l...

Re: Thunderbird - losing profile

Maybe this is NOT what you want, but ... ... if I wanted to get my Thunderbird profile to an external disk, I would just mv .thunderbird to this external disk and create a link to it like: cd mv .thunderbird path_to_my_external_disk/thunderbird ln -s path_to_my_external_disk/thunderbird .thunderbird...

Re: Install Wine to use MS Outlook

Hi, I'm running Outlook 2011 (after running Outlook 2007) for quiet some time using Codeweavers CX office. That works great for me, however you need to pay. The trick (to my understanding) is that Codeweavers to some extend tune wine, so that their supported applications run, but also provide an aut...

Is UP7 in the latest repos already

Dear all,

it seems like UP7 should be in the lastest repos. However, mintupdate tells me that I have UP6 installed and no updates to install ... Is that correct?

Thanks!

Re: UPDATE PACK 7 FEEDBACK THREAD

Hi, I also upgraded to incoming via update manager. Most things are running fine, didn't have a problem with my theme, but don't run the default themes anyway. I'm using both gnome-shell and cinnamon. Things i noticed: 1) my sound server has disappeared or is not running anymore. There is no audio a...

Re: LMDE for KDE

I suppose you can just install KDE from the repos in addition to Cinnamon or Mate. I did the same with Gnome, which I added to the Cinnamon LMDE. But the KDE version in the LMDE repos is probably kinda old ... I'm not a KDE guy, so I never checked :)

Re: LMDE Update Pack 7 - when?

Well, the SolydXK UP will not be any better considering it follows a monthly cycle: from http://solydxk.com/ about UP 2013.09.06 Those who haven’t upgraded from the testing repositories, and depending on whether you’re a SolydX or SolydK user you will have between 200MB until 700MB of pac...

Maybe you try to create a link from cdrom to cdrom1:

Code: Select all

sudo ln -s /dev/cdrom1 /dev/cdrom
Cheers!
