Re: The status of Mint Fluxbox CE

Glad to see Fluxbox regaining life.

Be sure to follow the proper testing procedure though :) We don't want any rogue betas floating around the web. (Even though it sounds great in your write up)

I'll be one of the first to install and enjoy your work!

Even if Ubuntu don't it may be a smart step for Mint.

Re: Linux Mint 8 RC1 Bug Thread

1) During install the slideshow says Mint is more "performant" than Windows. This is a French word I think. 2) In "open as root mode" (Nautilus with its red background) you get an error when you click on the "computer" shortcut at the top. "computer locations are not sported" (or similar). Apart fro...

Re: irc rules

thistleweb and linxea are both proving to be very good assets to Mint. Still some consideration needs to be given to timezone and right now, Australian daytime it is just me as Op. Gazza / dislexic-gas is a benefit as he is on Australian time too. On US and UK time we have many ops. Sorry not up to ...

You can bring to front and give focus with your command instead of just bring to front.

Re: Suggestion for the use of Pastebin (Adverts)

No harm at all in having a pastebin under the mint domain then it would be more ad revenue for Mint too.

Re: inxi buttons for xchat

 Of course this would have to be included in a default Mint settup or else it is just as hard to have someone add the buttons as it is to have them type the command.

If this was added to Mint it would make some parts of IRC help easier.

Re: inxi buttons for xchat

Come on lagagnon that is not the attitude... :)

Some people have language barriers or are very new.. If they get good help then they use Mint and they develop skills, if they get attitude then they go elsewhere.

inxi buttons for xchat

A plugin for xchat so users can click 'Audio' or 'CPU' or whatever and it sends the correct command e.g. /exec -o inxi -Ax for audio

this way users can easily be lead through help and assistance without the 20 minute battle getting them to paste the correct command back to you.

Re: Sync Personal settings on-line

Yeah a full system backup is great, but a big thing. Many people carry over a full /home partition to a new install/upgrade. This would be just select files that do go from one version to the next and you always have to setup yourself if you have no backup.. .mozilla (big but just the important part...

Sync Personal settings on-line

how about this: A new on-line service like x-marks that instead of bookmarks takes some of the smaller and more useful files from ~/ and keeps them constantly backed up on-line. Then on reinstall of a system you sign in and sync all your personal settings. Bingo your new install has all your old twe...

Re: irc rules

No, multilanguages are great in #linuxmint but lately we have had a LOT of spanish and a great guy called frank who speaks both english and spanish was helping out in translatoin. It just made sense for them to be in one place so that conversation in both languages did not get too hard to follow. Th...

Mint 8 preview

Due to cash input from Ubuntu, Mint had to go with the Human theme, but don't worry, Mint 8 is better than Mint 7 - by one.

Re: Conky Showoff thread

I am a little out of my depth here sort of wrong thread too but you need a .conkyrc in home for conky to read. It then displays on sceen the stuff you asked for in .conkyrc.. best idea is find someeones code (preferably simple) (and preferably for gnome if you are on that), save it in home as .conk...
