Re: Heron + MintApps?

Does it show kernel-updates as lvl5 as in mint? If it does. it's a huge improvement over the update manager in ubuntu. (*hint* Whoops, downloaded and installed a kernel my hardware struggles with and now my system is dead without noticing OH NO! *hint*) I don't know... I discovered what happens whe...

I can't even get myself to vote for myself! :? I decided to vote for the wallpaper that I would most likely use myself.

Add this to repos

I know a lot of people who like to use the IM client "xfire", and it would be nice to have the xfire plugins for pidgin to be included in the linux mint repositories. The .deb files can be found here;

Heron + MintApps?

Just because I could, really, I installed all the mint applications on Ubuntu Hardy Heron. Let's go over the results... MintMenu; None of the applications show up. Aw, I'm a good fan of the menu. I'm just happy it works so great in Mint! MintInstall; Wow, this works very well in hardy! I was able to...

Alright! Good! Before I get the EEEPC though, I want to make sure I can boot from my USB drive, but it's not going too well so far... (see my post in the how-to section)

Is there a Linux Mint IRC channel? For all I know there could be one hidden away here, like our F@H team (which I stumbled upon yesterday)...

Re: Howto: Install Mint from a USB Pendrive/SD

Okay, whatever... Can anyone help me now? I got it to boot from the USB, and after typing in "live noapic" it begins to boot (I get the linux mint logo and progress bar) and it seems to load all the way... ...but then it goes to a white-text-on-black screen and every few seconds says; Buffer I/O err...

Re: Fluxbox vs XFCE for EEEPC?

Alright, but I want to still be able to run very smoothly; maybe with the occasional compiz effects? Can xfce work with compiz? (I've only really tried it before, never did much else with it)

Fluxbox vs XFCE for EEEPC?

Will either work fine with internet and everything out of the box? I'm comfortable with both fluxbox and xfce, but what are the pros and cons of using each with the eeepc?

Re: A few questions

And with the next version, Elyssa, will I louse all the applications I've installed as well as any work when I upgrade? Does it require you to install from scratch or just patch?
I think you can just upgrade to it, which will not alter anything, just patch the system.

Re: Installing Mint for "Newbies".

The installer is alright, it works fine, but I think we might want to go a different direction from Ubuntu on this one. How about having two installation choices; a beginner install, which automatically resizes any existing partition and installs Mint there, without much hassle, and an advanced inst...

KDE gives you options, not like some other desktop environments whose name starts with 'G'

Re: A few questions

Install startupmanager to choose which to boot into automatically. It's really easy to use, you will find it under system > administration > Startup-Manager once you have it installed.

EDIT: I don't know if this works with KDE... But it works very well with Gnome!
