Re: I can't access my menu settings

Hello, Allen v Pothen 2. The answer to your question(s) will - among other things - depend on the precise Linux Mint release, which you are using, and on the desktop environment, which is in use (Cinnamon, Mate or xfce). Please, execute the following terminal command, inxi -Sxxx , precisely as it has...

Re: How get programs for off line pc

This works if you download from another PC and run the installation file on another PC? This works, in case you compile the list of software packages , which you want to install, on the (offline) machine . I.e. on the machine, which does not have got any access to the internet. you transfer the gen...

Re: Desktop keyboard suddenly very slow

Hello, geekomatic. Your inxi report does not tell me why your keyboard input has slowed down to a crawl all of a sudden. But your inxi report does reveal that you are still using an outdated Linux Mint 17.1 release, which reached the end of its supported life end of April 2019, 11 months ago now. Ke...

Re: Downloaded Application is not Appearing

Hello, Joe. hddtemp is not a graphical application . This is why you will not find a hddtemp starter icon in the application menu. hddtemp is a terminal command. I.e. you can invoke it manually in a terminal window. Checkout man hddtemp or hddtemp --help in order to find out how to execute hddtemp ....

Hello, sanorton16. I checked on my LM 19.3 which of the dbus* components are present here, which are mentioned in the posted error messages. It is precisely dbus-x11 and dbus-user-session . Therefore I suggest to execute these terminal commands, please: sudo apt-get update sudo dpkg --configure -a s...

Re: What Does This Error Mean & How Can I Rectify It?

Hello, user73. You might try this in order to eliminate the duplicated entries from your software sources: Close Update Manager first. Launch Software Sources from the application menu. Click on the big fat [Maintenance] button. In the right-hand panel click on the button labelled [Remove duplicate ...

Re: cpu runs on 100% ..

Hello, kalimerox. By the looks of it, you have configured gnome-system-monitor to display only processes, which are run under your account, kalimerox. In case the process, which consumes 100% of a CPU core, is run under a different account, like e.g. root, you will not see it. Configure gnome-system...

Re: 4.5ubuntu1.1 Kernel Update

Hello, Brian Potter. Could you perhaps post an Update Manager screenshot, where the package is clearly identifiable, which has got the string 4.5ubuntu1.1 as a version string. Does not read as if it could be kernel related. In case you do not want to post a screenshot, you might execute the terminal...

Hi, wallyUSA. You might launch Synaptic package manager, select the packages libwine-development, wine-development and wine64-development and mark them for removal. Then click [Apply]. Re: The package ttf-mscorefonts-installer needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.

Hello, leo_kor. May we learn which Linux Mint edition precisely you are using, please? I ask, because the term "downgrade foreign packages" strongly reminds me of the upgrade instruction for users, who are trying to upgrade from LMDE 3 to LMDE 4 (from Linux Mint Debian Edition 3 to Linux Mint Debian...

Hi, Zotep. You might have bumped your own thread, e.g. after it had not received any reply after 2 days. The longer a new thread remains without any answer, the more likely it will never receive any answer in future as well. Actually, to me it seems pretty obvious that the Network Manager update can...

Hello, webbie2. Good news, as far as I can judge based on a full inxi report: inxi does not reveal any obvious technical problem, which would slow down your Asus machine. OK, the harddisk is not an SSD, but a Sata harddisk. Yet, overall the machine is really well equipped with all relevant resources...
