On my Mint 18.1, the file /lib/systemd/system/apt-daily.timer has got the same content as yours. $ cat /lib/systemd/system/apt-daily.timer [Unit] Description=Daily apt download activities [Timer] OnCalendar=*-*-* 6,18:00 RandomizedDelaySec=12h Persistent=true [Install] WantedBy=timers....

Re: Can't Update 'Apt'

Your mentioned post reads as if the configuration file /lib/systemd/system/apt-daily.time may have been tampered with. Yet, I will have to lookup the content of /lib/systemd/system/apt-daily.time on a different system, because Mint 17.3 does not have systemd and therefore no apt-daily.timer and no ...

Re: Question - Having Problems with Ubuntu Gnome, Considering a Switch to Mint

Hello, Ave. OK. I see. My ignorance. I had only come across pretty feeble Intel NUC machines in the forum threads, my memory told me. So I had incorrectly assumed NUC's were on the same level as my Zotac Atom dual core with hyperthreading and 1.7 GB of memory. It teaches you patience. Or drives you ...

Re: Can't Update 'Apt'

Hello, sleeper12. The command "apt update" suggested to execute apt list --upgradable in order to read a list of all software packages, installed on your system, for which updates are available. May we learn which software packages apt list --upgradable lists? Also what does the commandline sudo apt...

Hello, Sadhu. Skype for Linux does not seem to be avaiable from the official Ubuntu software repositories. But you may have followed the steps, laid out in an article like this one perhaps: How to Install Skype 8.13 on Debian, Ubuntu and Linux Mint , when installing it on Mint 18.3. Should work on b...

Re: Question - Having Problems with Ubuntu Gnome, Considering a Switch to Mint

Hello, Ave. Intel NUC does not suggest that it is a very powerful machine. So picking Ubuntu with the Gnome3 desktop may not have been the most appropriate choice with respect to the hardware resources of an Intel NUC. Ubuntu also offers Ubuntu 18.04 Mate desktop and Ubuntu 18.04 xfce desktop. For m...

Hi, smurphos. And he/she jumps straight in with no hesitation One of the avoidable issues in such cases is that users tend to skip the requirements for in-place upgrade, which Clem explains. They simply do not take it seriously when Clem writes C1. Experience with APT and the command line Upgrading ...

Hello, ocin4. My Calendar is back, but now it is in English, while Thunderbird is German (as I want it to be). Does someone has any hints? Seems as if we will have to live with an English Lightning extension for the moment. The same can be seen on my systems: localized Thunderbird (German), non-loca...
