Re: [SOLVED] Kernel 4.15.0.47.49

Hi, Pjotr.

Simply look at the output, which the terminal command uname -a generates.
uname -a will display it as 4.15.0-47-generic #50-Ubuntu.
I assume that uname does it correctly.

Cheers,
Karl

Are you really suggesting, catweazel, that disk activity during system startup is normal, not malicious? I am shocked. Karl

Re: cannot install muon / cannot fix problem

Hello, quietmind. This time the simulation looks good, does it not? :) No warnings, no errors. And only 12 software packages to be installed. Not 91 like on my Mint 18.1 xfce. I'd say, ok, go ahead. This time without the "--dry-run", so apt-get will install the software apt update sudo apt-get insta...

Re: It's finally time. Help with upgrade from 17.1 to 19.1 Cinnamon

Hello, superkev. Unless I misintepret the disk layout in your initial post, then the harddisk /dev/sdb uses an MBR (no EFI parition spotted). You should tell the Mint installer to put Grub into the MBR /dev/sdb. This should make sure that Grub detects your Windows system and offers it in the Grub me...

Re: Repositories are causing my computer to fail

On recent Mint releases software-properties-gtk is a symlink to software-sources. Bad luck, I guess, it will not work inside a terminal.

Re: 32 bit mint 19.1 browser crashes

I am eager to learn whether cavman35 will post his current Firefox version as displayed by firefox --version.
Maybe once we learn his current Firefox version, switching to Palemoon 27.9.4 will be a big step forward.

Re: cannot install muon / cannot fix problem

Hello, quietmind. There is a conflict between the version of python3-software-properties, which Linuxmint brings along in it own repo. It is newer than the version of python3-software-properties, which muon and software-properties-kde from the Ubuntu depend on. So far for the conflict. Yet, as apt-c...

Re: cannot install muon / cannot fix problem

Hello, quietmind. The following packages have unmet dependencies: software-properties-kde : Depends: python3-software-properties (= 0.96.24.32.7) but 1.8.4 is to be installed This seems to suggest that your sources list files hold 2 different repos, which offer python3-software-properties, but 2 dif...

Re: 32 bit mint 19.1 browser crashes

For an older version go here you can get 27.9.4 In case you do, you should be aware that + Palemoon 27.9.4 is no longer officially maintained + Palemoon 27.9.4 holds all the bugs and security vulnerabilities, which have been resolved between 27.9.4 and 28.4.1 + using an outdated browser version to ...

1.) [...] Does Pale Moon run on mint? I ask since Mint doesn't seem to be an option at this link https://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=home:stevenpusser&package=palemoon Your Linux Mint 19.1 xfce 64-bit is based on Ubuntu 18.04 64-bit. You can switch Firefox for Palemoon which will work on a processor without sse2 No, sir, PaleMoon will not do so. Moonchild has dropped support for non-sse2 CPUs some versions ago. Re: Virus ? Silly blob sound at random intervals drives me crazy

I use the extension "Mute Tab" which basically mutes all tabs unless I specifically unmute a tab. It also places an icon on each tab that controls it. No extension needed on Firefox 66.0. The functionality has been built into Firefox itself. Under Preferences => Tab "Privacy & Security" => Section ...

Re: Slow web browsers

Try out Slimjet, Midori and Pale Moon browsers. They normally use less resources. I cannot comment on Slimjet and Midori, because I have never tried them. Yet, with respect to PaleMoon, my experience is this: It may use less memory than Firefox and Google Chrome. Yes, it does not create several bro...
