Re: [drivers] Nvidia drivers install but seems not to work

I installed the driver that comes with Mint 17.2 and that is a legacy driver of Nvidia (304.* if not mistaken). I install this using the cinnamon settings window (at the bottom of non free/commercial drivers).

[drivers] Nvidia drivers install but seems not to work

Hi all, I have a rather curious challenge. I have installed my computer with Linux Mint 17.2 after having windows installed. Kinda reinstalled it. It worked in the past fine but now I'm having troubles with my graphic card. It seems to function but not really properly. When I boot, I get the "f...

Re: [mint 17.*] Disk replacement advice

Hi there, I finally got a SSD drive. It's an Intel 530 Series of 180 gb. I installed it with Pjotr's advice. So I hope I much pleasure next of years. I do have one question though, as I understand it the write actions to a SSD drive are not very good, the drive gets worned off. Now I do have Virtua...

Re: [mint 17.*] Disk replacement advice

Hi MartyMint,

Are you sure about this? Let me rephrase my statement, a lot or too much write actions (like windows do) will wear the drive off, which is not good?

Anyway, if you are sure, thank you! I will install Virtualbox tonight.

Re: [mint 17.*] Disk replacement advice

I'm not sure what you mean.... What do you mean by upgrade? I assume that you want to do a clean installation of Mint 17.1 on the new SSD? Yes, that is correct. But when Mint 17.2 or 17.3 comes out then I'd like to upgrade to the new version. Would this be possible without a clean installation or d...

Re: [mint 17.*] Disk replacement advice

Hi Pjotr, Thanks! I skim thru it and it is very informative and I will follow it when I got the SSD. However, I do have one question. Lately, Mint provides an upgrader program to upgrade to a newer version of Mint. But this was not always the case. I needed to format the drive and install the new Mi...

[mint 17.*] Disk replacement advice

Hi all, I do not know if this is the right forum but since I did no see any advisory forum I'd guess I post it here. I do not have a problem with my hardware but I need some replacement of my HDD's. My current HDD is a Western Digital 500 Gb SATA and I would like to replace it with an SSD but there ...

Re: GUI stop responding to anything

Hi, I have the same problem since I installed 17.1. Mostly it seems to be VLC but also other programs like FireFox or screen recording software (SSR) are freezing the desktop. I do have an old Nvidia graphicscard which have me served about 10 years now. Untill this version I had no problems at all. ...

Re: Mint 17.1 far too slow to reboot

Hi, It depends on you configuration. I had the same problem and did not understand it. So I went to look for answers. One of the things I had was network shares. Somehow it tried to contact the server (mostly my laptop tries to contact my desktop for shares) for share to shut them down or something....

Re: wifi working but not showing in dhcp client list on rout

Unless you can configure your router to set the lease seperately I would not reccomend it. If you range is full then you end up with no addresses to give. Instead you may be able to configure a static route to the computer. Most routers offer an option to "hold" an specific address to the ...

Hi! :) Removing bluetooth does not seem te work. I got the same problem today. I was just listening to some music and suddenly it was gone. I got the same output in the syslog. But this seems the problem: Jan 3 12:00:40 stargate-universe kernel: [ 8861.592032] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: fail to flush all...
