Re: wifi working but not showing in dhcp client list on rout

Hi,

Do you have it staticly configured instead of dynamicly? In some routers IP adresses do not show up when a address is configured static in stead of dynamic.

Also, as a workaroud you can use third-party software like Teamviewer to access remote hosts.

Re: Wireless is slow and sometimes not working

Hi Nomko,

I have bluetooth removed using apt-get. I do not see anything yet but as I use the laptop it becomes more slowly. So I will run for a few hours maybe tomorrow I know more.

Thanks for helping me :-)

Re: Wireless is slow and sometimes not working

The patch did not work. Probably due to the wrong kernel number. I use 3.13.0-24 and I installed 3.13.0-38. Should I update the kernels? Mint does not mention them.

After the reboot my nic didn't function at all and I got Mint's safemode...

Please some help :-)

Re: Wireless is slow and sometimes not working

@jeremyB: The problem seems to be solved. I did check the syslog again today and no trace of iwlwifi messages, also I can listen to a internet radio stream and work with libreoffice (which saves the files on the local network) again. Thank you for helping me and have a nice year! @nomko: That may we...

Re: Wireless is slow and sometimes not working

Hi JeremyB, Thanks for replying! I did not expect a reply so soon :-). I did what you suggested and this is what I could find. I probably need to run the computer for a while to see if this is solved. I found this in syslog: Jan 1 20:29:52 stargate-universe kernel: [ 18.457091] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0:...

Wireless is slow and sometimes not working

Hi all, Since a few weeks I'm experiencing some problems with my laptop connecting to the internet. Also my local network is slow(from my wifi). I hope someone will help me with this. Although I'm not new to linux but still a user. Problem solving and debugging was never my strongest thing... This i...

Re: [mint 17] mount share on boot

Nice, thanks. I had the same idea with a link to the folder but I will try this :).

edit:
This works for me :). Since /media keeps popping off when not used, I had to navigate to it. But since the bookmark it is kinda permanent :).

Thanks a lot!

I will mark this post as solved.

That is a really nice feature! However, how do I show them in Nemo? Making a symbolic link? Or just navigate to it :).

Re: [mint 17] mount share on boot

It does work now, I had to change /media/ in /media... But what do I do? Just mkdir /samba in the root partition (like /media)? Or is there another (or safer) place to mount to?

I would like to thank you for your help which is appriciated :).

Re: [mint 17] mount share on boot

Hi! Thanks for replying. I also do not know what happend there. My guess is that autofs took over the /media folder for creating folders as shares (disks were also mounted there). I'm kinda noob as it comes to technical matters, I'm learning as I go (or need) sorry. For fstab, it was to my knowledge...

Re: [mint 17] mount share on boot

Hi! Thanks for the replies :). I did take the linux mint forum one by altair4 but this caused me some trouble. Nothing did work really. After following the instructions I rebooted the computer to test and most of my mounted discs are gone. For example: - 1 Tb backup disk mounted by fstab is gone. - ...

[SOLVED] mint 17: mount share on boot

Hi there! It is always a great pleasure to using Linux Mint. For now it seems running perfectly! Thanks for that :D. I have however a question about booting up the computer. I hope there is an answer for this. I do some development in my free time, at this moment I'm working on a private webapp for ...

Re: [cinnamon]: Can I get vlc to the tray?

Hi WinterTroubles

This helps a lot! Thank you :D . I was already looking that way but I found it in "right click cinnamon > all settings > applets > sound". Sometimes it is difficult since I have to translate all in dutch. Anyway, thank you very much for the pointer!

[cinnamon]: Can I get vlc to the tray?

Hi all, In Mint 16 it was possible to put VLC Media Player in the system tray while playing. Today I was surprised to see that this is not possible anymore in Mint 17. It is, like banshee, integrated in the system. While this is a great idea, the window of vlc is still open in my taskbar. It is kind...

Re: Service 'org.kde.kded' does not exist

It seems that there is a service is missing. Are you sure that you have installed all packages? I do not know if this is a standard package. Recently I reinstalled my computer and laptop to Mint KDE 16. After the fresh install, I installed skype on my laptop with no problems. But on my desktop is a ...

Re: [Mint 16] Change Home folder to partition

I do not know if this is the right way of doing things but I have done this: To get the UUID of the disc I had to type: sudo blkid And then copy the UUID and open the fstab file in /etc. Paste the UUID in the fstab file and mount is on /home. Save the file and type: sudo mount -a After that you have...

[Mint 16] Change Home folder to partition

Hi there, I had some problem with VLC player which made me reinstall Mint. During the install I noticed that I was not able to set the home partition (assuming that I already had one, I proceeded) so I left it alone. Also after setting the new root (/) partition when I clicked on the format button (...

Hi,

Thanks for replying! However, this is not related to my problem. In my problem vlc would not even start, his or hers did

Anyway, so I reinstalled Mint and it works now. I have another problem but I need to start a new topic.

Again, thanks

Hi all, thanks for replying to my problem. However due to my busy schedule and life (kids and everything), I was not able to respond for a long time.
