WINE and install.exe?

Okay, I'm still kinda trying to get WINE to cooperate. The application I'm trying to install is called WhiteHatBox (which right now I think is a piece of donkey's tail for not making this easy and having a Linux version) and WINE is telling me that it can't find install.exe. I can confirm that it's ...

Re: Am trying to get WINE to work.

Installed dotnet20 as suggested, but any idea why it would have given me a "Working around wine bug 30845 -- Using native fusion while installing..." message and then a "Note: command 'env WINEDLLOVERRIDES=mscoree, fusion=n wine dotnetfx.exe' returned status 67. Aborting." error while doing that?

Re: Am trying to get WINE to work.

That's funky. But I've installed Mono AND reinstalled that other program since installing Winetricks. But now it's like WINE just refuses to recognize that Mono is installed. What's wrong with it?

Re: Am trying to get WINE to work.

Yeah...This is weird. Tried Winetricks and it still told me I needed Mono. And then the whole thing doesn't seem to recognize that I just installed Mono.

Re: Am trying to get WINE to work.

It seems to have found it, but could you tell me what Mono for Windows is? Says I need it to run NET 2.0 applications.

Am trying to get WINE to work.

I've already tried to run programs in the terminal using WINE but the terminal is giving me (Okay, forum, I will say "unicorn rainbows" if you want me to) about not recognizing the path to the program I'm trying to run. Doesn't help that it doesn't seem to recognize file paths that have a space betw...

Can't update Flash Player and Firefox on LM 16.

I've tried just about every instructions I could find and the official websites of both are of course unhelpful. Been trying to update using Terminal and stuff I've tried include: Sudo apt-get update Firefox Sudo apt-get install Firefox Sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade And a bunch of simi...

Re: Network suddenly doesn't work.

Thanks for the helpful reply; a terminal command in that third article worked. Next time that happens maybe I'll have a better idea of what to do.

[SOLVED] Network suddenly doesn't work.

So what I was doing on the Linux Terminal was: --Installing/upgrading the Libboost library --Build a Linux wallet for a cryptocurrency called Marscoin using the "qmake" and "make" commands --sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade to I suppose upgrade some old stuff And now suddenly I can't con...

I want to record a video for Youtube.

Does anybody know a good free software that can record a video using my webcam and save it as a file that can be used for Youtube? At this point, I don't even give a fig (I could use harsher language here) about editing because how can you edit something that doesn't exist yet, you know? I know abou...

It's all right. I might have a way around the problem but it'll be a little time-consuming.

Re: Trouble with a thumb drive.

It's kind of an oldish Kingston DataTraveler that I've been using for a couple of years, so I may or may not be able to find it, but I'll look. First time I've ever had any kind of trouble with it -- I copied off those files to an external hard drive because my first thought was that the thumb drive...

Re: Trouble with a thumb drive.

Maybe, but every time I try to open a file, it tells me the file has been locked for editing by an "unknown user" and, when it does open, I can't save changes because I don't have the right permissions. I hope there's nothing weird going on.

Trouble with a thumb drive.

Hi guys-- I'm having some difficulty with permissions with files on my KINGSTON thumb drive. I have "read" permissions on most of them but not "write" permissions. And, yes, I tried just about every permutation of CHMOD I could think of to get permissions back to where they should be. Tried CHMOD on...

Sound is not working.

The sound preferences in the control center doesn't seem to recognize that my laptop speakers exist and also don't recognize a set of headphones I have. This just happened, too, and I haven't done anything more than adjust the volume levels. Is there a way to tweak the system so that it will pick up...

Re: Remoting into brand new hard drive to install Linux

I mean I can't get to the BIOS altogether. I have a disc that came with the motherboard that I suppose has the BIOS on it. I'm guessing at this point that I'm pretty much narked.

Re: Remoting into brand new hard drive to install Linux

Yah but I'm pretty much caught in a Catch-22 here. For some-odd reason, the BIOS doesn't seem to exist on the hard drive though I do have a disc to install it (I think). Is this just not going to happen? Edit to add: When I hook the hard drive up to my SATA-to-USB cord, I can hear the hard drive run...

Equivalent of Disk Management on Linux?

Hi guys--
I know this is kind of a noob question, but what's the equivalent of Windows' Disk Management on Linux Mint? And how do I get to it? Thanks a bunch.
