Re: Re: A Linux experience

If you are looking for a great distro running E17 give Bodhi linux a shot. Amazing OS and even better community. Jeff, the leading developer, really listens to his community. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk Yeah Bohdi shows lot's of promise but it's 32 Bit only. From what I hear though v2.0 w...

Re: New laptop

Sounds like a solid laptop, especially for that price. When I bought my Asus last month the first thing I did was format the HD and install Linux. In the end the only two distros that I could use without a single problem were Linux Mint and Bodhi, which I recommend highly. Great distro and very ligh...

Re: What is the difference between Debian, Fluxbox, XFCE, ..

I've been using Linux for a bit and have tried a few distros along with different windows managers and desktop environments. Learned quite a bit from this thread though.

Re: My Journey So Far

Why so mad with Windows 7? I agree it has problems, but which OS doesn't? About my journey: Ubuntu (for a few weeks), then OpenSUSE (for a week), then Mint (for a month), then I gave up on Linux in general for a year  , then back to Mint 9 (which I'm sticking with for good until the next LTS ...

My Journey So Far

A few weeks I became so irritated with Windows 7 that I decided to become a full time Linux user. I had some experience in college and knew enough to stay afloat. Logically I went to the biggest 'name' in Linux right now and installed Ubuntu. Quickly I became irritated with Unity and decided I had t...

Any plans for LM13 to include XFCE?

After trying almost every DE out there I have settled on XFCE and after trying Xubuntu I have decided to go back to LM12 and just install XFCE. Really like the community and the fact the developers really listen to the user. Anyway, are there any plans for a XFCE version of LM13?

Re: Mint 12 Tips & Tricks Guide (updated Jan 10)

I play a text based baseball game and one of the issues I have had is setting the desktop up so I can see the entire screen. As it stands in Cinnamon it shows the title bar at the top and it then cuts off part of the game screen on the bottom. If I hide the panel it shows the entire screen but when...

Hopefully this is a good place for this question. I play a text based baseball game and one of the issues I have had is setting the desktop up so I can see the entire screen. To be honest its the only thing keeping me away from Cinnamon. Love the environment but I need to have full control of my game. I am a bit of an addict lol

Every Restart Removed Program Back In Panel

I've removed Dolphin from the bottom panel and after each time I start up my laptop its back in the panel. Not a huge deal but it gets annoying. How do I remove the program from the panel for good?

Re: [SOLVED] Title Bar in Chromium Window

Any way to get rid of the title bar in other programs? I've got a game I play and it cuts off the bottom portion. KDE gives me the option to remove all borders. I'd love that same function in Cinnamon.

Nice :) That a Sandy Bridge processor? Gotta love the fact Intel is now providing such support for the Linux kernel...maybe they see which way the wind is blowing for desktop computing? lol That DDR3 1066 mhz or 1333? And what do ya think of the new trend with both AMD and Intel moving toward copro...

Re: Re: Why bother with Mint 12?

Too many people, in my estimation, are afraid of new and different things. This can be a real problem because most of life's greatest learning opportunities are tied to new and different experiences. Embrace the new. Cherish the different. These are the best teachers. This is agree with as well. Ev...

Re: Re: Why bother with Mint 12?

The past, present and future of Mint belongs to the people who do the work. So If the developers decided to do M12 that is enough of a reason for me. As a consumer I can either accept their efforts for what they are or vote with my feet. I used M12 for a bit and decided I wanted something else so I...

Re: Linux Mint 12 KDE released!

I installed the regular version of Linux Mint 12 and after playing with Gnome 3, Mate and Cinnamon I decided to install KDE. I also upgraded to KDE 4.8 in the process. Is there any reason for me to install Linux Mint 12 KDE? Or is the only difference the addition of KDE? Curious if there are any upd...

Re: Why bother with Mint 12?

I understand what Anomaly's getting at, though. Skipping Mint 12 and waiting for Mint 13 would be a good approach for a lot of people. As a "transition release," Mint 12 seems important for Mint, but not necessarily so for the user. I have to agree with this. As a new full time user it was a shock ...

Re: Why do you like your chosen desktop environment?

I started using KDE last night and don't think I will go back. As great as Cinnamon, Gnome 3 and Mate have been there were a few issues that KDE finally fixed. Mostly surrounding a game that I have played for many years and how it shows up on the screen. KDE gives me the option to remove all borders...
