Re: Hello and a ?

I tried that a number of times as Indicated in my original post. The screen settings in the power section have no effect. They do work fine in 12 tho. Ah. Guess that's why I shouldn't respond so late and when I am tired lol. I tried. Sorry. Hey, no problem! Do you think that there is a terminal com...

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2

I was going to wait for the Galaxy S2 but I went with the HTC Inspire 4G due to cost and availability. Rooted it shortly after I got it and have never looked back. I've been running CyanogenMod for awhile and its the best ROM out there. Have you looked at the XDA forums? There are some very good ROM...

Re: What hardware ya using??

I just picked up an Asus u56e to replace my previous laptop. Intel Core i5 2.5GHz 6GB DDR3 750GB HD 5400RPM Its got integrated graphics but to be honest I don't play any games on here other than my text baseball simulator. For what I need its an amazing computer. Love the keyboard as well. Asus did ...

Re: Re: Finally Took The Dive; New Fulltime Linux User

For sharing to the PS3, Plex should work. http://www.plexapp.com/linux/linux-pms-download.php To be honest right now the biggest reason I don't make the switch on my desktop computer is the fact I can't watch Netflix in Linux. Once I can ill probably convert that too. Sent from my Inspire 4G using ...

Hmmmm. Must just be my lucky lately lol. I've since moved to Mate so I don't need to worry about it.

Re: Hello and a ?

In power management you can change the setting for shutting off the screen on AC or battery power. You can also change what happens when you close the lid or when the computer is inactive for a period of time. That should fix things for you.

Re: Linus Torvalds dubs GNOME 3 'unholy mess'

I like Gnome 3 and Unity really much... It's a new experience which fits better in todays needs. It does have its uses. Neither are horrible, just different. Right now I am using Mate but I have been logging into Gnome 3 just to see if I can get used to it. I do understand why Ubuntu is going with ...

Re: What song are you listening to at the moment?

Ratamahatta by Sepultura I had a chance to see Max C with Soulfly and it was one of the greatest concerts I have had the chance to experience. As great as Metallica and Slayer was I have to say that Max C is on an entirely different level. EDIT: BTW, I am listening to Terminally Unique by Lamb Of G...

Cinnamon & Unified Notifications

One think I liked about both Unity and Gnome 3 is that it seemed to unify most of the notifications, whether it was Pidgin, Twitter or Email. With Cinnamon I have to adjust settings in each program. Is there a way to get all notifications in one place? Is this something that might be implemented dow...

Re: Linus Torvalds dubs GNOME 3 'unholy mess'

In my brief time as a full time Linux user I have grown to dislike both Unity and Gnome 3. I feel that each adds a step or two before you are able to get your task finished. I do see the positives. Very clean and I think its something that I might learn to like in the future. For now though Ill be s...

Re: MINT SUCCESS

Being a long time Linux user, I probably came to Mint for entirely different reasons than many/most. The codecs are trivial to me and honestly, I almost never use any of the Mint tools. For me it is the people, the Mint team and its forum users. Mint has the feel of a small, close knit community. T...

Re: Finally Took The Dive; New Fulltime Linux User

Thank you! Its been a fun journey so far. Finally getting it all setup the way I like it. Bought a new laptop about 3 days after I made the jump so that threw a few more twists in there. So far I love it. Played around with Windows a bit the other day and cannot for the life of me figure out how I s...

Re: Closing Lid At Login Screen = Black Screen

Well I seemed to fix the issue. Not sure how but now when I open the lid I get a black screen, pause, then it goes back to the login screen. I very well could not have shut the lid on the login screen but its an issue I wanted to try and figure out. Would hate to lose date simply because the laptop ...

I sure hope I can find a solution. Getting close to ditching the Linux experience. I need something stable.

I forgot to mention that I have disabled both hibernate and suspend when closing the lid.
