[SOLVED] Audacious no sound?

I'm tying to fix that I can't get sound out from Audacious 3.2.3. Tryed different settings, but no sound. How ever, Banshee works, so sound does work, just not for Audacious. I have 64bit Mint Cinnamon. Audio is plugget into motherboard analog audio. My graphics card also has audio (hdmi), but I'm n...

[SOLVED] OpenDNS issue

What software in Linux Mint is trying to use OpenDNS (208.67.220.220, 208.67.222.222)?
I just don't like how it's "knocking" my firewall as I don't allow any other than my own defines DNS be used.
I'm not using OpenDNS, but something in my computer is using it, how I can find it?

Re: First impressions on Mint.

Now in this situation Windows does a lot better than Linux Mint and there isn't really excuse for it. I think you've missed a very important topic in the view you take of Linux. Imagine yourself in the shoes of a new person using Windows, having never seen or used it before. Then figure out where t...

Tuskin siellä on liikennettä, vaikka senkin vo...

There is many positive stuff in Linux Mint, but I'm not gonna talk here about them. I concenrate the biggest issue what exist in Linux Mint. While I think many people could u...

Re: Should I Partition my Home folder

As just example how I have done partitions. I have 80GB SSD drive with dual Boot Windows 7 and Linux Mint 14. I also have external NAS for users stored data. /dev/sda1 ntfs (Windows reserved) 100MB (used 34MB) /dev/sda2 ntfs (Windows 7) 43GB (used 17GB) /dev/sda3 ext4 (/boot) 100MB (used 37MB) /dev/...

Re: Why in the world would Mint disable localhost?

What? Maybe you should learn what a hosts file is for. I think OP knows very well how to use hosts file. Also it's really good that OP actually notices stuff like that, what are part of security and privacy. How ever I don't think it's neccassary Mint that does that, maybe some malware. I don't hav...

Good idea, but it doesn't work. It removes the link and creates new file, when I open some file.

Re: messy partitioning

Linux can be partitioned many ways. Usually I would do at least 3-partions. But there isn't anything wrong in you partition. Linux can have many partition just fine. / /home swap / root partion is where is all the system stuff, it doesn't need to be big. Something like 8GB is fine. swap size is rela...

Re: About dist upgrade

So apt-get update and upgrade can be used.
But apt-get dist-upgrade can't be used safely.

So I assume this mean only safe way to make Mint distribution upgrade is make new clean istallation?

Re: How to upgrade Mint distribution

So there is two ways to upgrade. Do full fresh installation as recomended way or use apt-get to make distibution upgrade the little risky way. What happens if you don't format your /home directory while doing fresh installation. Meaning there is old user data, configuration and some software related...

In my opinion Windows 8 and RT and so, was extreme bad move from Microsoft. What they did does hurt's hole PC business. Many times when company comes bigger enough they start looking everyting as company's needs and they forget customers needs. Like company starts to saying, I know better, even if t...
