Moving windows lags, and my computer isnt slow.
Because Gnome 3 use some 3D graphics features and Gnome classic doesn't.
Or because you graphics card/drivers has issues.

Re: Why bother with Mint 12?

As a new Linux user myself, I have to say I am glad I chose Mint 12 to start off. The experience I am gaining by using this release, and Cinnamon(which I really like) is invaluable. Just think, even though I don't have much to contribute at this time, I and other noobs like me have joined in what I...

Re: Why bother with Mint 12?

Too many people, in my estimation, are afraid of new and different things. This can be a real problem because most of life's greatest learning opportunities are tied to new and different experiences. Embrace the new. Cherish the different. These are the best teachers. I'm not so sure. I do agree th...

Re: One more Conky problem

Yeah, I wasn't trying to make it pretty and even some stuff could be wrong. I was just trying to make it work for you. You have to check you sensors output to fix correct temperatures in correct spots. I think I tryed to put CPU temperature in MB spot, not sure. It takes little bit learn the syntax ...

This is wrong, there is no if statement but there is endif. $endif Remove this This use_spacer no should be use_spacer none Player lines aren't working. So remove them # none, xmms, bmp, audacious, infopipe (default is none) xmms_player bmp If you get errors from the temperature. It could be that th...

You mean panel size and font in it?
You can size now the font in Cinnamon 1.3.1 panel. But I did not see anywhere how to make panel it self bigger.

Re: One more Conky problem

Yes that is what I did many times, I created the ~/.conkyrc and tried many different codes, all of them were giving many problems. Even if I just let it blank or copied exactly the same contents that are on the conky.conf it would comeback with errors. The code at the wikihow is pretty simple and s...

Re: One more Conky problem

In Mints software manager install conky-all

create ~/.conkyrc and put your conky code there.
(if it's blank, then it doesn't do anything.)

You can test the code just writing conky in you terminal, when it doesn't give errors then it's ready to go.
(ctrl c to get out of testing)

Typo, forgot the .

Very small nautilus and Mint issue

When I start my computer and open Nautilus from menu, panel or favored. It will cause my mouse cursor be busy (animation only) for 15 second. I can still use nautilus, just fine. This will not happen if you start Nautilus from desktop by clicking home or your computer icon. Also if you logout your u...

Re: Multiple Networks

I can't really solve you issues. Use command route to check you networks and default gateway. Internet connection and it's traffic is allways behind the default gateway and directed to ethernet where it's connected. You local computers has to be inside the same network (ip-address area) to be able t...

Re: Cinnamon 1.3 released!!

Any idea's on what would cause this? I tried creating a new user but logging in with a fresh home directory did the same thing. I also tried removing Cinnamon, restarted, and installed Cinnamon again - still the same problem. Most likely it's related graphics cards. Can you go in your system settin...

Re: Cinnamon 1.3 released!!

I think when you drag applets, you need to drag them as far left or right you can, then drop it.
It's gonna be little bit wrong place, but after it's correct side of panel, you can arrange them in corrent order.

Re: Cinnamon 1.3 released!!

I got 1.3.1 and it little bit messed my panel, some stuff moved left side. But I was able to fix it very easy after reseting to default, some draging, droping and using Cinnamon settings.
Restore to Default in Cinnamon Settings (1.3.1 only) is in Applets, under selections window where applets are.

Basicly when/if you computer runs out of memory, it will use swap as addional memory. This prevents your system crash in out of memory situations. What size should swap be? It should be at least size of your computers memory. If you have 2GB RAM, when swap should be at least that. Less memory you ha...

Re: Tablets and the end of the world

Most people fit into the first category. For what they want to do with websites, a desktop computer is a tremendous waste of space and processing power. Add a wireless, full-size keyboard for a tablet and most of those users would never touch a desktop again. Tablet is not same as desktop computer,...
