Re: XnViewMP - segmentation fault in LM20 Cinnamon

Xnview 0.94.3 also works. Thanks. Big help. Update: Latest report at the XnView User Forum is that the new (30 June) 0.96.4 is still failing on Mint 20 Cinnamon. Following up earlier, there is now a stable version 0.96.5 with a 64 bit .deb - any experiences with it on LM20? https://www.xnview.com/e...

Re: Any apps needed in Linux?

I recently read "Make a Linux App" I'm conscious than Linux needs more apps instead of more distros/meta-distros-themes stuff, I'm happy with the software I use and I think is enough, but I want to ask to anybody reading this "Is there an program or an application you need absent in ...

Re: Warpinator can only see the other PC if running from live media

That's a new one on me. Can't help. Personally try to avoid tweaks on regular Mint installs that I can't pretest successfully on a thumb drive install first. I've stayed away from Flatpak and Snap so far, requiring (hopefully temporary) workarounds on LM20/Ubuntu 20.04 for Cherrytree and XnViewMP vi...

Re: Removing Linux MInt from dual boot system

People do things differently, but on your screen shot I read that out of about 230GB of drive space, 75GB is formatted to Windows NTFS and over 150GB for Linux as ext 4 disk format. You apparently have converted that 150 of Linux to Free Space, but what does Windows tell you is the total file apace ...

Re: Removing Linux MInt from dual boot system

Extending Windows into Free Space might fail becasue Free Space might be in the very different Linus disk format , which Windows doesn't recognize, I have to guess Unallocated Space gets reformatted consistent with the rest of Windows partition. Extending Winows simply recovers the space removed fro...

Re: Removing Linux MInt from dual boot system

Thank you. It looked a very clear and simple solution. After checking all data etc. I moved to Win7, identified the 75GB NTFS as Windows, right clicked on the 153GB Linux partition and clicked 'Delete Volume'. This produced the green box of free space so I clicked on 'Delete Volume' again. This pro...

Re: Warpinator can only see the other PC if running from live media

This is in the "any" hints category since I'm new to Warpinator. You may get much better suggestions from somebody more knowledgeable. First, since live media are working, you don't mention if you did the same updating of Warpinator to the current version, and then used the same python3-pa...

Re: Removing Linux MInt from dual boot system

This worked for me a few years ago, reverting to single boot Windows 7 on my little netbook (which is now back to dual booting LM20 XFCE): https://lifehacker.com/how-to-uninstall-windows-or-linux-after-dual-booting-508710422 Along with removing the Linux partition will restore the Windows boot loade...

Re: Warpinator not start even after reinstallation

This can also be fixed with "apt install python3-packaging" Saw this in another post and it worked for me. Thank you very much. Worked to start Warpinator on LM20 XFCE. Odd that it wasn't necessary on LM20 Cinnamon. It's just the newest version of Warpinator that has this issue. A slight ...

Re: Darktable Release 3.2.1 - PPA available

Not clear if you're doing that in the Terminal or trying to add to the Software Manager (or Synaptic PM). I did this 3-step sequence in the Terminal sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/darktable [PASSWORD PROMPT] sudo apt update sudo apt install darktable I am running LM20 XFCE, but used the...

Re: Was Ulyana released before it was ready?

FWIW, fresh installs of the new LM20 XFCE are working very well as single or dual booting for my purposes, apart from some (surprise) incompatibilities with Ubuntu 20.04 for Cherrytree and XnViewMP, and (anticipated) problems with Chromium browser support: - Cherrytree is temporarily solved scrollin...

Re: How can I change window border appearance?

Thank you all for your replies. I was actually thinking of editing the Mint-Y-Dark theme in question by coping the folder with the theme and running it through GIMP, editing some elements to make it look more to what I want it to look like. I will give it a try and report here on my attempt(s). :D ...

Re: How can I change window border appearance?

I had the same problem with the dark preinstalled themes. I quite like this Alu-Night-XFCE (Straight), especially the Window Manager component, for having the mouse slightly lighten or darken controls it passes over them. Maybe worth a try for your purposes. https://www.xfce-look.org/p/1404258/ (I w...

Re: Linux Mint 20 and Dropbox

Went to mega.nz/sync. They support LM 18 and 19, but not 20? Tried 19, but it complained of an unsatisfied dependency. I got the megasync-xubuntu_20.04_amd64.deb back in May some time, honestly can't recall if it was from their site, but note that while it doesn't list Mint 20 yet it does list Ubun...

Re: Linux Mint 20 and Dropbox

You might try to isolate whether the DB sync problem is with the DB client software or something else, by testing an install of the nearly identical MegaSync client, clearly modeled on Dropbox's. Mega's client installed and is running fine on LM20 XFCE on my three different machines. If Mega works, ...

Re: Help: Simple Database OR Address book on steroids

Reading through quickly, did you actually try importing a spreadsheet into the LibreOffice Base Database? I had to do this sort of thing at a simple level years ago in MS Office, so no relevant experience of current LibreOffice capabilities or learning curve, but there's a wizard and it seems fairly...
