Re: firefox recent history won't clear

Bleachbit did the trick! Thanks. I didn't realize FF 11 was beta. Probably wouldn't have upgraded.

firefox recent history won't clear [SOLVED]

I recently upgraded to firefox 11.0 but history isn't being deleted when I close firefox. Yes, I changed the settings in Edit -> preferences ->privacy and even cleared recent history under tools, but the links that I visited yesterday are still highlighted! One thing kind of unusual is under tools c...

upgading firefox [SOLVED]

I'm running Mint 11 and want to upgrade firefox. The easiest way would seem to be using synaptic package manager. But I think I need to add some repos to the list otherwise the firefox version would appear to be up to date. What repositories do I need to add? I did try to install firefox from the fi...

Re: installing 32 bit app on 64 bit system

Thanks vanDoom for your tips. I'm just going to install Mint 12 32 bit. It's a pain as I've almost got the system where I want it after about 5 days of work. But, this will solve another problem of out of date gcc. I installed Mint 11 64 bit as I didn't want to mess with Gnome 3 and all that. Maybe ...

Re: Mint 11 won't boot after changes

This was an X11 problem. I deleted the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and replaced it with the backup
xorg.conf, was is practically empty! Just a devices section. Not sure why the nvidia server settings
tool said to run nvidia-conf.

Mint 11 won't boot after changes[SOLVED]

I've had Mint 11 installed for a couple of days, everything was working fine, but then I made a change to the Startup Applications Preferences, I removed bluetooth manager from the list. I then ran as root nvidia-config because the nvidia tool said there was no nvidia driver installed, even though I...

<SOLVED> installing downloaded .deb files

I've downloaded some debian packages that are more current than listed in Synaptic
but can't figure out how to install them. I even tried to put them in /usr/share/local-repository/binary
but that didn't work either.
Any sugesstions?

Re: install over old partitioning scheme

Success! Partitioning and install went fine. Ran the updater ok. But tried to install
software and no luck: size mismatch. I'll browse through the other forums
to see what's wrong.
best wishes,

Re: install over old partitioning scheme

Thanks very much for laying out the steps. I guess I was a little worried about
"jumping over the edge"!
You've made it very easy and I know what to expect!

Re: install over old partitioning scheme

Thanks for the replies. I want to replace the exiting distro with Mint 11.
sda6 is /
sda7 is /home
then sda6 would be toggled as the boot partition?
Do the linux partitions need to be reformatted even though there would be no changes
to them as far as size and format types?
thanks again,
Bob

<solved>install over old partitioning scheme

Greetings: I'm trying to install lm 11 over an existing Linux and Win 7 partitioning scheme. The install partitioner doesn't recognize the extended partition that is bootable. I'm not sure what will happen if I proceed with the install. basically, I want to keep the existing setup. The partition /de...
