Re: update manager fails to run

Mmmm, I was posting from a LMDE perspective. Sudo might well be handled differently in the main Mint editions. I should have added that as a caveat.

It's a Linux problem in general, kernel power management regressions. To be fixed in the 3.4 kernel from what I've read. sure thing but if we compare som...

Re: Update Manager repeatedly fails to 'find' all repositori

There are no "lisa" repos on the Ubuntu server, that's a Mint name. Replace "lisa" with the corresponding Ubuntu release name (oneiric?). Index of /ubuntu/dists [ICO] Name Last modified Size Description [DIR] Parent Directory - [DIR] edgy-backports/ 19-Nov-2007 18:37 - [DIR] edgy-commercial/ 29-Jul-...

Re: Linux Mint 12 - Virtualbox USB problem

In the command jafarm666 posted, you are adding a user called john to the vboxusers group. You'll have to log out and log back in for the group membership to take effect.

Re: Is their a tool similar to Disk Clean up in Linux Mint 1

For cleaning orphaned dependancies the best tool I've found is a package called upgrade-system. You run it, it does apt-get update, apt-get dist-upgrade, then runs deborphan to locate unused libs. I've cleaned nearly 100 packages from a stock LMDE install this way. I've never had a problem with it b...

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

Another thing, When I switch to Mint X GTK theme, the selection has a very strange pink color. Is anyone else having this problem? Yes, I have this same result. Just installed Cinnamon. Everything seems to be working well. Tested Ronis_BR's pink problem, same result. Broken: Date and Time will not ...

How did you create the LiveUSB? I use unetbootin and have never had it fail to create a usable USB.

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

Broken under System Settings/System Info: 1. Overview - the Install Updates button lights up. Nothing happens when you click it. The system is up-to-date per Mint Update. 2. Default Applications - Nothing to pick from for Web or Mail. I understand Mail since T-Bird was removed, but FF is still insta...

Re: Hardcore LMDE user here

Thanks again, guys. Gene, yes, it is beautiful here. We've had land here since 1999, planned for the early retirement scheme. Finally got to move here last July. DrHu, I've always liked the idea of running the older equipment with new technologies. Yes, this old horse has enough power for what I do ...

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

My update from bone stock UP3 to bone stock UP4 went OK. Got the new blue backgrounds. Immediately after the update I tried to restart and both the Quit and the Logout options would not work. No response to either task. Had to Ctrl-Alt-F1 and log in to do a reboot command. Shut down and restarted OK...

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

Running the update against Incoming right now. Perhaps useful info for some: Against a dead stock LMDE UP3 install, cleaned up using the upgrade-system package (try it!), UP4 consists of: 890 upgraded, 272 newly installed, 26 to remove and 34 not upgraded. Need to get 937 MB of archives. After this ...

Hardcore LMDE user here

Hi everyone. I've been using LMDE since Nov '11 when I discovered it. New to Linux. Might as well say that since the last time I tried it was around 1995. First distro I played with back then? Debian :D I recently retired and found myself with copius free time, so thought I'd tinker around with Linu...

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

Hi, signed up to the forum just because of this announcement. Been using LMDE since Nov '11 and I love it. Was really waiting for this UP! I've installed LMDE at least a dozen times, trying Gnome and XFCE, different configs, customizations, etc. The whole shot. My last install was highly customized ...
