There are no packages for precise on that ppa, you need to delete it from software sources - mintUpdate > Edit menu > Software Sources > Other tab > select and delete

That version of mint has been obsolete for over 18 months and the repositories are closed. You will not be able to update anything via repositories and should install a newer version if you want newer software. The other OSes are nothing to do with mint.

Re: firmware missing for internet connection

BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN (rev 01) Thanks for that. Yes you did it right :) Because it's a Broadcom device you will need to install their proprietary firmware but In order to do this you need internet access. If you can connect the machine temporarily via a cabled connection you should do then open th...

mister_lister wrote:there is a standard work around
@mister_lister, I would disagree that the actions you propose are a standard workaround on ubuntu based distros. I also don't believe this is simply a Broadcom driver issue as the device is initialised, hardblocked issues are often down to wmi.

Not sure why you think you need to add a 3rd party source for a main component of linuxmint? See http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2177

Not sure why your DNS is showing - DNS: 194.168.4.100 DNS: 194.168.8.100 Those are the DNS servers provided by Virgin Media so we should have DNS resolution, however! inxi -s Sensors: Error: You do not have the sensors app installed @Azaiya, case is important in linux, that should have been a capit...

Then sorry am not sure why it's showing the drive and not running that version here. Things that spring to mind are the gvfs drive automounter and places applets and gtk bookmarks so it might be worth looking at those?

Given that mint 13 has a 5 year lifespan, I think it's quite likely there will be an official .iso refresh at some point.

Re: GIMP 2.8.2 is still prohibitively slow

Not sure why you are asking this here, Mint 13 repos don't provide gimp 2.8 by default and if you install outside the repos you take responsibility for configuration and compatibility on yourself? See http://www.gimp.org/docs/ for help with gimp.
