Re: Low resolution

nctarheel704, from your other post I see you have an ATI x1200. Unfortunately this is no longer supported by ATI's proprietary linux drivers and you will have use the open source Mesa drivers. You will need to un-install the ATI drivers and restart, your system should revert to using the open source...

Quite simple, open Simple CompizConfig Settings Manager, go to Desktop tab and change Appearance dropdown to Desktop Cube, then on Effects tab change Cube Effects dropdown to what you want.

Re: Insatall errors linu mint 8

There are reports of similar problems with previous releases, but haven't come across any for latest ones. Earlier issues seem to indicate the drive had had some other OS on before and had not been cleanly wiped or had unmarked bad sectors. Did you have Windows or something on this drive before and ...

Re: Reset MintMenu Defaults

If you are talking about any custom settings to the Mint Menu itself, the settings are held in ~/.gconf/apps/mintMenu. I guess just deleting the entire folder would cause it to be re-created with default settings. If you mean the applications shown on the menu, just open the menu editor and click th...

Can you explain what you mean by not create a file system? Sorry wasn't implying you did understand Spanish, just that the page was, had to use Google Translate myself :)

Re: Insatall errors linu mint 8

Hi Bodyroc, welcome to Mint. The error you are getting seems to be a problem with the ubiquity installer. I have found a page here in Spanish that relates to it which may help. But other pages seem to indicate the problem is caused by pressing Next on the installer without selecting a TimeZone and/o...

No need, just open Startup Applications and drag and drop Rhythmbox from the menu on to it.

Re: mintInstall start screen

a screen that contains the titles of the most important (if not all) application categories You mean like the Mint Software Portal? I believe in earlier versions of LM, there was no mint install and the menu item took you straight to the online portal, which to me seems a better way to go. Why dupl...

Re: Wired network setup with xp

A HOME network has been set up on xp and the /etc/samba/smb.conf file in LM8 changed to give the same name to the network there. However, looking at the xp machine it shows both the HOME and WORKGROUP networks and the latter has the linux samba server shown. Did you change the default workgroup nam...

ikey, looks good, only problem I see is how it appears on the screen once you select Chatroom. There is a lot of white space to scroll past to get to your client at the bottom.

Re: No disk space left after install?

Hi Jack, can you tell us how big your hard drive is and how it's partitioned? If you're not sure, boot from the LM8 CD again and run the gParted Partition Editor from the Mint menu, then select your hard drive from the drop down top right. Be careful not to change anything.

Re: Grub prevents Windows 7 from suspend

It certainly sounds like it might be a problem with the way grub2 works, but this is the first time it's been implemented in ubuntu/mint and it's a relatively unknown beast. You might be better asking around the ubuntu forums on this that being the upstream distro. A few questions though that you mi...

In Mint 8 32 bit it downloads and streams.
Thanks oscar799, maybe I should have said whilst you can't install the iPlayer desktop on x64, streaming in the browser should work.

Re: bbc iplayer / flash player download problem

Are you talking about iplayer or flash player? Flash player should already be installed in LM8. If you are using the x64 version, iPlayer doesn't work as Adobe haven't AFAIK released a x64 version of Air which is required.

Don't use them myself. The last release seems to have been in June, not that long ago, so its feasible it's still being developed. Hopefully someone will jump in with the answer to your OP, though I may install and have a play myself just for the fun !
