No I only get a single entry for internal audio which disappears if the Smartlink driver is enabled.

Re: best way to install skype

Skype is no longer appearing in Package Manager Not sure why that is, it still appears on my Mint 7 KDE but you could try installing directly from medibuntu, http://packages.medibuntu.org/jaunty/skype.html . Is there a way to upgrade to the new version without losing all my installed software and s...

Activating Smartlink driver disables onboard sound

LM8 main. If I enable the hardware driver for the Smartlink software modem daemon, on reboot no audio device is detected. Disabling the Smartlink driver re-enables the sound after reboot. Following reports without modem driver loaded. -PCI Devices- Host bridge : ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Xpress 79...

Re: best way to install skype

rdh61 I found the implementation of pulseaudio on jaunty/gloria too buggy to use with skype but was able to use it with the audio settings on alsa. The version I used was installed via synaptic from the medibuntu repo and I believe was 2.1.0.47. The karmic/helena version appears to be the same but d...

Re: Trackpad two finger scrolling not working...

Hi phaseIV, I have 2 finger scrolling working here on a Samsung laptop on the released version, though it's a bit over sensitive at times. Did you do a fresh install from the RC? If not, maybe the problem is settings left over? Try deleting your touchpad config file in your home directory under .gco...

Re: Wine Sub-Menus

Hi opticycle, it sounds like you have a similar issue to myself in my post http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=37036. Unfortunately I have no response from any of the Mint team in connection with this, but I guess they're busy with new releases at the moment.

Totem BBC plugin can't connect to server

Though I've already got the BBC iPlayer Desktop installed on Helena main, I thought I'd try the BBC plugin in Totem to compare the differences, but am unable to get it to work. The plugin attempts to connect then just reports 'Unable to connect to server...'. Have tried this several times without su...

Re: Games sub menus don't work

I think where installed items appear in the main menu is determined by the package maintainers for those games; they can be manually moved about or categorised using alacarte rich-roast, I think you're missing my point here, I have organised things into categories but Mint Menu ignores that and jus...

Re: what Theme do you use?

Using Shiki Brave here as I prefer blue to green, but changed background to Mint Dew as IMO this is much better than the default Fresh.

Re: Mark all Updates button in Synaptic toolbar SOLVED

Thanks altair4 and viking777. I have investigated a little and it is possible to put the icon back on the toolbar, though whether this will get overwritten at some point is unknown. I'm not posting the details as this is obviously not what the Mint team want.

Mark all Updates button in Synaptic toolbar SOLVED

This seems to be absent in the Helena version. Does anyone know if it's possible to re-instate it as it is quite useful?

Games sub menus don't work

Not sure if this is by design, but noticed in Mint Menu 4.9.1 on Helena that the Games menu shows everything in one long list, despite everything being organised by category and all categories ticked in the menu editor? Also a minor point, but on the default install, the menu shows gedit under acces...

Re: How to get NM to connect first

Thanks Fornhamfred. Had a look at the link you mention but it isn't really the same problem, NM always starts up straight away for me, it just doesn't always connect straight away. However I might give wicd another shot. BTW I said in the 1st line of my post I was running Mint 7 x64.

How to get NM to connect first

Have a problem with NM and wireless connection running on Mint 7 x64 on my laptop that's bugging me, and wondered if anyone knows of a solution? My setup loads Thunderbird on startup, but about 50% of the time, NM fails to connect to my WPA2 wlan before Thunderbird does it's mail check, meaning I ge...

Re: Login problem

Niko, did you 'completely uninstall' kdm in synaptic or just remove it? If the latter, there may still be config files left on your system. Also try deleting the hidden config files relating to kde in your home directory, there are a few of them, some in other folders.

Re: Mint KDE 6 login problem

For anyone interested, I have solved this by installing gdm and completely un-installing kdm. This allowed me to login again though looked a bit strange getting a gnome login screen after the KDE splash. Once logged in again, I re-installed kdm and made sure it worked again, then un-installed gdm. H...

Login problem

I'm running Mint 6 RC1 fully updated to 4.2.1 via ppa repo and latest kernel via backports repo, and after some recent updates, I'm now unable to login to my user account through the gui login screen. When I hit enter after putting in my password, the screen goes black briefly, then goes back to the...
