Kontact crashes

Hello, After some patches Mint-KDE 18.2 works reasonably well on my laptop. I cannot folly migrate to it from 17.3 as long as Kontact/Korganizer crashes with a segmentation error when trying to do anything like customizing colors or creating a new activity/event. The backtrace was created trying the...

Mint 18.2 - KDE -- jitters

Hello, I installed 18.2-KDE-32 bit on my Sony laptop a couple of days ago to see whether it might make sense to upgrade from 17.3. I must say that it seems to be better than the previous attempt under Mint 18. However, I still find good reasons NOT to migrate at this time. One annoying behaviour is ...

18.2, KDE - New icons

Hello, I just installed KDE-Sonja Beta, and must say there is a lot of improvement over 18.1. It really works well! Thanks a lot to a hard-working team! However the new set of icons doesn't look pleasing at all - at least in my opinion. Are they going to change with the final, stable version? I also...

Anwendungs-Starter

Re: System Tray widgets don't display

Finding too many glitches with the Plasma supplied in Mint 18, I decided to go back to 17.3 - rock solid, I love it. I won't leave Mint for some other deb-based distro just yet -- hoping that the generally very responsive Mint team manages to bring Sarah up to a state where I can finally use it... f...

System Tray widgets don't display

Hello, Since going to Mint 18 I cannot invoke system tray widgets (like a calculator or the control for sound level). Even the "normal" application starter ("K", per default in the lower left screen corner) doesn't stay displayed so that I could select an application to start. Only the application o...

Re: Cannot start KDM/KDE

Thanks for bothering to help me! I have given up on the issue - seeing as Mint 17.2 is now available. I installed it and everything works like a charm!

Cannot start KDM/KDE

Hello, I run Linux Mint 17.1 with KDE 4.14.2 as installed with the Mint 17.1. Unfortunately since some update two days ago my desktop is broken. When I boot the system, I get the "cogwheel" alright, but then - instead of the normal flash picture of Linux Mint + KDE (it builds itself up within a coup...

I DO suspect that you may have a point regarding DNS, but to me the problem seems to be that under some conditions
the rooter in the middle has "trouble" sending on the messages to hsdesk (10.0.0.2)...

Hello Altair4,
ping with the IP-address doesn't change anything. Again, things used to work with the same definitions up to a week ago. I have decided to get a new router and will see whether that helps...

Re: ping timeout

Hello Reorx - and thanks for the reply! There IS a Windows-7 machine on the LAN. It is installed on the laptop but only used when Mint (on the same laptop) is not used (multi-boot!). I have done some more "research"... At the risk of repeating myself, here is the situation: My two Linux systems conn...

Re: ping timeout

Hello again,
I keep seeing the message
ICMP "other host" udp port 8611 unreachable, length 52.
... in tcpdump.
I can't imagine what port 8611 (canon-bjnp1) has to do with "ping" or traceroute
Any ideas? I am beginning to think there is some virus or trojan on my system!!!

Re: ping timeout

traceroute delivers the following results: First from Mint to Debian: traceroute --resolve-hostnames -w 4 hsdesk traceroute to hsdesk (10.0.0.2), 64 hops max 1 10.0.0.2 (hsdesk) 0,441ms 0,452ms 0,254ms ... indicating to me that there is NO problem at all... ... and then again: traceroute --resolve-h...
