ping timeout

Hello, I run Mint 17.1 on a laptop connected through a router to a Debian-Wheezy system over Ethernet. When I ping from Debian to Mint, everything works as a charm. However, ping in the other direction always loses some packages. I.e.: ping hsdesk <-- ping from laptop to Debian (obviously the first ...

KDEConnect

Hello I am on Linux-Mint 16 (latest updates installed) and KDE. I have installed the package kdeconnect using aptitude. The idea is to connect my Xperia Z- phone (Android 4.4.2) to the laptop. They are on the same WIFI-Network and I can ping my Mint-Laptop from the phone o.k. However, when I start t...

Re: Linux Mint 14 "Nadia" KDE released!

Are there any plans to provide an upgrade to KDE 4.10? Seems like it looks spiffing (at least as far as KDE's own announcement is concerned!

Live VD

Re: samba won't start

I removed the "interfaces=..." from smb.conf and smbd now starts o.k. at boot-time. Also had some problems with the printing definition. However, when I try to do a restart (i.e. service smbd restart) I get the message that smbd is an unknown job. I suspect there is something wrong with the upstart ...

samba won't start

Hello, I run Mint-Maya (and like it!). However, I cannot get samba to start. As suggested in a Google discussion of a similar problem I reinstalled samba. I got the following messages when doing so. I wonder what is wrong. When I do a grep for "smbd", it isn't there, while "nmbd" IS there... Has any...

In any case, I still get the same answer ---------------------------------------------------------------...

Hello, Can somebody help me in trying to get the above mobile broadband modem to work with recently installed Mint-Maya. I can see it as one of the network connections, but I cannot activate it. Re: sources.list for Mint Lisa

The removed key-problem has been fixed after applying your suggestion. Entering "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa" on my konsole I get the following message: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/add-apt-repository", line 65, in <module> if not sp.add_source_from_line(line): F...
