Re: Mint Debian

Ikey, I saw your note on the Community page: "People have .. obtained.. the ISO pre-announcement. I'm hearing a bug whereby the installer sits at "Cleaning apt" and stops doing anything after. Bar goes back and forth and nothing happens. One guy reported "No Operating System inst...

Strange problem here..,,,I recently built a new system. In my new pc, I have one drive and installed Win 7. I then pulled the drive from the old system which contains Mint and Win 7, and connected it as a slave. Booted into Win 7 (no grub) and transferred some files/docs from the old drive (win 7). ...

Re: fstab/mount questions

After the first reboot, I see the Storage partition is auto mounted, the other partitions are present but I would need to double click to access them. I then added the other partitions to the fstab file: /dev/sdb1 /media/Folders ntfs defaults,umask=007,gid=46 0 0 /dev/sdb4 /media/Storage ntfs defaul...

Re: fstab/mount questions

The detail in your question gives me the impression that you already know the answer to this. If it isn't in fstab then it isn't going to be mounted. Unless of course it is an external USB device, but you don't tell us that. What is the reason for the "authenticate" drive after each reboo...

fstab/mount questions

Ok, I have been having some intermittent issues on boot up where my 2nd drive (sdb) is missing, Right now, the drive is present. When I view fstab this is what I see: # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # Use 'blkid -o value -s UUID' to print the universally unique identifier # for a dev...

Re: Folding@Home

Hey thanks for the heads up!....Looks like from the link they weren't able to help out on the Lucid issue. Its better that I dont run from Lucid since I am not always logged into that partition.

Apparmor not installed

I am running LM7 x64 and the .33rc4 kernel. I noticed in synaptic that Apparmor is not installed, only the libapparmor files. Should I install it and why wasnt it installed as default?

Ok, now its coming back to me....I have a dual core cpu (q6600)...its running all 4 cores at 100%. Is this normal? I cant see running this more than 15 minutes w/o some concern. I dont want to burn out my cpu. Please advise as I want to contribute but not at the cost of my cpu.

Re: Dual Boot Mint 7 & Ubuntu 9.10?

A fresh install of 9.10 will install Grub2....it will also detect any OS installed on all drives (os-prober) and add to the grub menu. My install of Karmic (on a separate HDD) picked up my Mint7/Win and it also became the default grub menu w/o having me chose from the drive from the bios..pretty ama...
