Re: Just some basic questions about setting up a WLAN

Thanks for your help, trapperjohn. Yeah I get what you're saying about unknown hotspots... have to keep that in mind... I got the aircrack-ng compiled and working... and with airmon-ng and the other info you provided I was able to determine that my wireless driver didn't support ad-hoc mode, but the...

The builtin broadcom 4312 wireless is setup as an ad-hoc hotspot. The device MAC address for the 4312 is set to wlan1 (the US...

Re: Help me, suggestions needed

Yo dude=== I moved to Linux Mint a little over 1 year ago from Win7. My advice is to just set up a Live DVD or USB and boot it up-- boot up in "compatibility mode" if you're concerned, just see Mint for yourself. HP supports Linux well. Also, you can easily setup a dual-boot system and have both Win...

Re: Please give me decent reason to stick with Linux

If you stick it out, you'll find Linux to be more stable and faster and much easier... And I can sympathize with you because I was exactly where you are now and also went through the same transition-- I tried redhat, turbolinux, slackware etc. etc. back when Win95 was the newest release of Winblows,...

Re: Mint 13 XFCE + Lexmark x4650 = failed to install drivers

It looks like your X4650, z2300 printer is only compatible up to Mint 11, not Mint 13. see the compatiblilty list here for Linux inkjet... http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=oscompatiblity&linkSelected=node2&locale=EN&userlocale=EN_US FYI: Look here to find drivers from Lexmark: http://support.le...

Re: Uninstall WIfi Driver?

Nope. I wish, but there isn't an option for the onboard wifi card.

I did find a solution after searching gnome.org

So for the record, if anyone else has this problem:

in directory: /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections

delete all the files labeled Auto-[whatever].

I hit the botton to off-- but it just comes right back on and tries to connect to whomever whe...
