Re: Poll: Desktop environments

The last time I tried Linux was about 10 years ago with Red Hat, Slackware and Turbo Linux and I found them unusable-- I didn't have the time or will power to learn a new OS from scratch, so I SUFFERED through Windows 95, NT, 2000, et. al. ad nauseum until finally I heard about Ubuntu & Mint in an u...

Re: How to install software on Linux Mint

Uninstall Acrobat, sudo apt-get autoremove sudo apt-get autoclean or combined code sudo apt-get autoremove && sudo apt-get autoclean Open Software Manager and reinstall Acrobat. Re: How to install software on Linux Mint

Thanks for your input. But if I search for "acroread" in Software Manager, i get a blank screen for search results. And I do have a .PDF reader, but it won't read this .PDF file (a product user's manual) that I downloaded from the manufacturer, and it was their website which directed me to the adob...

Re: Software Manager Freezing

I have this same problem on 32bit Dell Inspiron,
Here's one thing I've done that works maybe 80% of the time: click on the "+" in the black flag in the search box so it disappears first; then type in the search text.
