Re: Sort directories befores files in Gtk file dialogs

I'm not coming up with a solution, alas. But I just wanted to add that I know at least one app (Evolution) which exhibits the same behavior within its dialogs (e.g. file-import): http://www.zimagez.com/miniature/capturedcran2017-02-0712-00-49.php It's very annoying to have to scroll below lots of fi...

Cannot access NAS with WebDAV-S

Hello, I've just installed Mint 18.1 (Mate) on my daughters laptop, and everything is running very smoothly except this: I cannot access my NAS (from Caja) with the usual syntax for WebDAV-s: davs://user@address:5006/ I'm getting a "TLS certificate unacceptable" error :( However, I'm sure that the N...

Re: Latest mint-themes-gtk3 breaks Evolution theming

Confirmed, latest mint-themes-gtk3 (3.14+12) solves the issue.

... barely 3 days after signalling it! Isn't that some quick fix? Kudos to the Mint team for their swiftness!

Marking as solved. BR, Daniel

[Solved] Latest mint-themes-gtk3 breaks Evolution theming

Hello, The recent update on mint-themes-gtk3 (3.14+11) somehow broke the color theming of my favorite mail program. The left pane (list of messages) became dark grey, still with a black font. That's not the best for readability... Well I really need to read my mails easily so I promptly downgraded t...

Re: [NOT solved] Trash shown always empty

Now that's something weird: it depends on the PC (laptop) being docked or not!
- PC undocked: Thunar's trash behaves perfectly well;
- PC docked: Thunar always shows the trash as empty.

Still, that's not much of a clue :(

No more preview in some apps

Hello, I just noticed recently that some applications (at least, two) were no longer able to preview before printing. These are Evolution and Eye of Mate image viewer. If I choose to preview, either from the direct menu command or from the print dialog, nothing happens (except a turning wheel beside...

It looks like they fixed that in 5.3.3.

Anyway, thanks for this thread that could get more use in the future. That's one useful bookmark!

Re: [NOT solved] Trash shown always empty

(Sorry for replying late, I didn't get any notice about theses latest posts) [...] So you have both xfce and MATE installed? That could be a (perhaps the ) problem right there. Fred, I dont think so: - 2nd PC (no trash problem): LMDE2 from 2013 ISO (hence Mate, no more XFCE then) with XFCE added ove...

Re: [NOT solved] Trash shown always empty

Funny this old thread comes to life again, I was about to post again. Here are a few remarks: 1) I have 2 PCs with precisely the same setup (well, at least it should be so): LMDE2, XFCE. In particular the icon sets are identical. One has the trash problem, not the other. So I'm bound to think it has...

Re: Dropbox stopped working

Well, that's just what I needed, thanks! I was able to recover partially by downloading what they call the offline installer from here . But I chose the old version, the one I that was working before (8.4.21). It does give me a working Dropbox, but I'm also back to the unending "Dropbox upgrading......

Dropbox stopped working

Hello, I have an issue with Dropbox on my main PC. The auto-upgrade had been hanging for days, so I tried to manually upgrade to the latest version (10.4.26) following the instructions on the Dropbox site. But now Dropbox won't start properly. Rather, I'm stuck at the "downloading daemon" dialog whi...

Re: Xsane from a network MFP

Well, not very inspiring :(... However, I almost solved it myself :D. Here is what I did so far: I added these two lines pantum6500 pantum_mfp to /etc/sane.d/dll.conf ... and these two: localhost 192.68.0.58 to /etc/sane.d/net.conf. Plus, RUN=yes to /etc/default/saned. Now: daniel@m6400 ~ $ sudo sca...

Xsane from a network MFP

Hello, I've just installed a Pantum M6500NW MFP (WiFi) on my home network. It works fine for printing; I can access the web server alright, I can even scan to a network share. But sometimes I'd like to fine-tune the scanning, and scan from Xsane (or Gimp). This MFP came with a sane-specific deb file...

Re: Do I have to upgrade to testing?

Yes, you should not track testing or stretch. Doing either is guaranteed to break your system eventually. Thanks, I'll avoid that. (I was tempted because I thought that the potential breakages were limited to Cinnamon, and I'm a XFCE user.) Adding stretch without pinning I wouldn't recommend. It ma...

Re: Do I have to upgrade to testing?

Thanks Xenopeek for the quick reply, That tutorial you link to is obsolete and is for LMDE 1; not LMDE 2. So we can no longer "track Testing" as before? If you want to add Debian testing to your LMDE 2 system, please do it like this: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=241&t=212502. Then ex...

Do I have to upgrade to testing?

Hello, My brand new Fuji camera wants the very latest photo software if I'm to be able to process its raw files under Linux. I routinely use Ufraw , Fotoxx , RawTherapee and some more. On some occasions I have cherry-picked a Testing version from the (temporarily added) Debian repository. But the la...

IPython Notebook fails to launch Firefox

Hello, I'm using IPython Notebook for my students. This software is convenient for mixing mathematics and Python computations. It runs a server (of Python commands I assume) at http://localhost:8888/. Normally, after starting up, it opens the default browser at the above address. But in the latest (...

Re: Installation of evolution and wine does not work

Hi, I've seen menu items missing, but it was always because they had a "OnlyShowIn=..." entry in their .desktop file. I solved that by (1) removing this entry, and (2) moving the .desktop file from /usr/share/applications to /usr/ local /share/applications, so they don't get overwritten during updat...

Re: Weird Internet issue

Well... It was working today, the connection was back up and running. I don't know what solved the issue: either the router got restarted in the interval, or perhaps it helped that I rebooted the WiFi AP. But I generally prefer when things work without my understanding why, than the converse :) Than...

Re: Weird Internet issue

Hmm... I'm not the network administrator, so I cannot reboot the router.

However, I can reboot the wireless access point. I'll do that today and try again, then report back here.
