Re: OpenVPN Vs. PIA Applicaton Setup

Have you tried another DNS?

Never had PIA drop on me over the years and I tested both methods over different computers.

I never tried or used PIA on auto DNS, allows fixed.

So far it's been solid, a few changes to NetworkManager.

Only played with Xubuntu so far and only 5 hours into it.

Everything seems to work very well.

Re: looking for a easy way to backup a complete hdd with dual boot

I will 2nd Clonezilla and use it for full backup of Windows and Linux.

Usually takes about 35 min for a full backup depending on installed programs and data.

Re: Ideas for old laptop?

I have one old headless laptop setup by the TV for playing DVDs. Keeping all my utilities and Docs that I use on all my other laptops are also stored on the old timer to save time while testing other Linux OS. If you can think of a reason to play, go a head and enjoy. Edit: I would fix that power ca...

Re: OpenVPN with NordVPN has DNS leak

I see your main connection is eno1, that is the connection you need to edit. IPv4 - Method - Automatic (DHCP) address only - DNS Server: 127.0.0.1 IPv6 - Method - Ignore Save sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager or stop your Internet connection and restart. then test https://ipleak.net/

Re: OpenVPN with NordVPN has DNS leak

3) Your using your VPN to connect to dnscrypt-proxy.

2) VPN from your computer to the VPN service.

1) Local IP to your ISP DNS server.

Re: OpenVPN with NordVPN has DNS leak

Very interesting approach "sammiev" to resolve the DNS leaks. Years a go a wise man who takes care of servers around the world showed me this method to use with paid vpn servers as an extra layer of protection. It has severed me very well over the years of travel and living out of hotel rooms.
