Re: Seahorse and default keyring in Mint 13

OK,I've come across this possible fix: http://hongouru.blogspot.fr/2012/07/solved-warning-gnome-keyring-couldnt.html,does by any chance anyone know if it actually works in Mint 13 ? Following the advice I've edited the file /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-pkcs11.desktop as follows Exec=/...

Seahorse and default keyring in Mint 13

I've installed Seahorse in Mint 13 Mate to have a GUI tool for password/keyrings since I'm used to it in Gnome2,and I was kinda expecting to automagically find my default "login" keyring in it once installed, but it's not there. Should I just manually add it,using my user password,or there is a bette...

Re: Thumbnails (.CR2 raw files) in file browser

That(unfortunately)makes sense, because lately I've discovered that there is simply no support for RAW thumbnails in Mate https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-file-manager/issues/21 quoted from the link above : Caja doesn't have any support for displaying CR2 file thumbnails. So at the moment it's on...

Re: Hot swap (SATA disks) in Mint 13 ?

Excellent news:so it is definitely true that,as long the motherboard supports it and you enable it in the BIOS,hotswapping works in Linux.
Just a question, before rescanning the SATA devices, how did you find the correct slot number ?
Did you use lsscsi ?

Re: Hot swap (SATA disks) in Mint 13 ?

Mostly this has to do with hardware support for hot-swapping (swap out while power is ON) hard drive http://www.techerator.com/2010/10/easily-hot-swap-sata-hard-drives-with-hotswap/ Sorry,I was a bit unclear between hotplugging and hotswapping,as you've pointed out. I did mean hotswapping sata disk...

Re: Custom shortcuts in Caja reset on restart

According to this bug report https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-co ... r/issues/2,Mate 1.4 is no longer supported, but Mint 13 being an LTS release, how Mate bugs are supposed to be fixed during its lifecycle ?

Do you have to somehow update to Mate 1.6 ?

Custom shortcuts in Caja reset on restart

I've tried to set some custom shortcuts in Caja ( I'm using Mint 13 Mate) by more or less following this guide http://askubuntu.com/questions/53202/how-do-you-create-a-new-document-keyboard-shortcut ,but it only half works, because new custom shortcuts are created and do actually work, then however di...

Re: Terminal window not scrolling (Mint 13 Mate)

The man program display only as many lines as fit on the terminal. You can use the mousewheel to scroll, which just sends key events to the man program so it thinks you are pressing arrow keys to scroll. It will redraw the screen and again only display as many lines as fit on the terminal. So the s...

Terminal window not scrolling (Mint 13 Mate)

I'm sometimes seeing this odd behavior in Mint 13 Mate when I open a terminal window, for instance to see a logfile:the scrollbar of this terminal window seems "locked",as I can't scroll the window either with the mousewheel or by moving the grabber on the scrollbar itself, but I can with the less com...

Hot swap (SATA disks) in Mint 13 ?

From what I've read, latest Ubuntu and Mint releases (including Maya) should support hot plugging of SATA devices, therefore I'd like to know what are the required steps:given that you have a motherboard Bios that supports hot plugging,is enabling that option (in the Bios setup) all that is needed ? F...

Re: Compiz issues in LMDE with Mate

@ catweazel : Excellent,if I weren't using MATE and intending to continue so.
And,compiz may be dead, but it's in the repos still.

@ dominic-y : thanks,I was thinking already about that:does it work better that the "default" compiz package in LMDE ? Did you experience any issue?

Assertion failed (X server restart) in Mint 13 Mate

So,I've set up Mint 13 Mate on my box more or less the way I wanted:suspension works perfectly with the Liquorix kernel, the proprietary driver is up and running (needed for the next entry),Compiz works almost OK (except a major glitch with the Cube plugin, see my request for advice here http://forums...

Re: The Worst of All Mint Decsions

Seriously  ,after leaving Ubuntu in disgust for what they have done to their desktop and having found Mate as a viable (although sometimes incomplete or a bit buggy) alternative,in the future I should expect to be stuck with a clone of the Gnome 2 fallback desktop that made me switch to Mint/...

Re: How can effectively stop MDM ?

Sorry,I did not read the post carefully:so,correct me if I'm wrong, the difference lays in running sgfxi using sudo vs. logging in as root in a virtual console from the start ?

Re: How can effectively stop MDM ?

Well that's weird,I'm asking because mdm popped up exactly while I was running sgfxi in a virtual console and the script was just trying to shutdown the X server-it maybe that my system is setup differently from yours as far as the login screen (or something like that) goes,or I may have done someth...
