Graphical glitch in Synaptic window...

Hi guys,

Running LM 18.0 xfce 64-bit.

Noticed that the synaptic window has some minor graphical glitches, in the form of thin dashed-lines around the edges of text-boxes/scroll-lists

Is this something others have noticed?

Cheers,

Mike.

Mouse wheel scrolling speed - still an issue...

Hi guys, This is one of the few remaining annoyances in Linux Mint - the seemingly random behaviour of the mouse scroll-wheel speed... Sometimes it works okay - in Firefox (or LibreOffice) for example, scrolling at a fairly comfortable 3 lines or so each 'turn' of the the scroll-wheel. Other times (...

Re: Xfce 18?

@bjmh46,

Like you I've been giving it a run too.

All good so far, but I too have noticed it takes about 30 seconds longer to boot than a pretty much identically configured LM17.3 install.

Re: Xfce 18?

I retract my previous comment about the whisker menu delay being a thing of the past with LM 18.0... It seems to be gone when running the "live DVD' ISO, but once I installed LM18.0 on a real machine, the delay is back! Curiously, my LM17.3 install (on an identical system) has NO delay in whisker me...

Re: Just giving LM18.0 xfce beta a whirl - loving it!

Looks like this has been addressed in the stable release ISO. :-) Cheers, Mike. OK, here's an update: I've e-mailed Graeme Gott, the developer of Whisker Menu. He was kind enough to reply almost instantly, and told me that the default setting of Whisker Menu is *not* to show generic application name...

Re: Xfce 18?

Looks like this has finally been fixed in the stable release! :-) Cheers, Mike. Another remark on this beautiful and elegant bèta: by default, the Whisker menu shows generic application names (e.g. “Web Browser”) instead of the real application names (e.g. “Firefox Web Browser”). That’s confusing wh...

Xfec 18.0 released?

One of my local mirrors (http://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/) now has LM18.0 xfce in the stable directory...

So I guess I can go ahead and give it a proper install! :-)

Yeah, but "minty" denotes "green", doesn't it? :-)

The Mint-X theme is slate grey and dull. Why not just rename Kokodi as "Mint-Z" and be done with it? :-)

Cheers,

Mike.

LM xfce default Window Manager style...

I know everyone has their own preference, but surely the default Windows Manager theme (Settings>Windows Manager>'Style' tab) in LM xfce can be something a little more interesting (and less drab!) than the current 'Mint-X'. Personally I always change this setting to 'Kokodi'. This particular style m...

Just giving LM18.0 xfce beta a whirl - loving it!

Just trying out the 18.0 xfce beta under VirtualBox... Looking very good! One thing I noticed immediately (and I'm fairly sure I'm NOT just imagining it!) is that the annoying delay when you first lick on the Whisker menu is gone - popped up as soon as I clicked on it. One VERY minor irritation stil...

Re: Xfce 18?

I'm also looking forward to LM18.0 xfce... I've d/l and tried (for a couple of days each) the Mate and Cinnamon versions. Much preferred Mate. Cinnamon looked a bit 'strange' and had a few issues, as others have mentioned. But I still find myself preferring my LM17.3 xfce install - much cleaner, sna...

Getting compton to work with 17.3 xfce?

Hi Guys, Clean install of LM17.3 xfce. Want to use Compton. Go to Desktop Settings and select "Xfwm4 + Compton" (the default is "Xfwm4 + Compositing") Screen redraws, all drop-shadows and nice shading now gone. (was there with "Xfwm4 + Compositing") I have my old comptom.conf file in my home directo...

Re: LM 17.3 xfce clean install - wallpaper corruption...

Yes, my old PC is getting a bit creaky! In the BIOS I could only boost the video buffer from 1MB to 8MD - no difference. However I found that by reducing the screen res from 1920x1200 to a slightly lower 1280 x 800 the backdrop displayed okay. So it looks like the old Intel 82865G chipset is not hap...

Re: Enable Mint 17.3 XFCE system sounds

You're in the same boat as a lot of people - getting basic system sounds to work in LM is a mystery to most (including me). Why it can't be a simple matter of ticking the "Enable system sounds" option, I don't know. There are very few tutorials on how to get it to work and none of the ones that I've...

LM 17.3 xfce clean install - wallpaper corruption...

Hi Guys, Just performed a clean install of LM 17.3 xfce 32-bit on an old Dell 170L that was previously running LM 13 without issues. However with 17.3 I've hit a glitch - the wallpapers/backdrops are displayed incorrectly after a reboot. See below... backdrop173.png If I go into "Desktop Setting" an...

17.3 xfce upgrade now available in Update Manager!

Hi guys,

Just ran Update Manager this morning (about 15 mins ago) and the option to upgrade to 17.3 is now available.

Running now - 1st time I've done an upgrade rather than a clean install - wish me luck!

Cheers,

Mike.
