Re: Mint 13 Cinnamon using wrong sound output device

Can you post some screens of your "Sound" application so that we can see what settings work and what the defaults are. Additionally we can force it, but that should be a last resort. There is a file you can create /etc/asound.conf which will always be respected by the system. I use this for systems ...

Re: Problems with Libreoffice under Maya

I was not able to reproduce your errors, nor have I experienced any myself. You could try purging and reinstalling LibreOffice. Additionally you can grab the debs from http://www.libreoffice.org/download/?type=deb-x86_64&lang=en-US (this is assuming US english on a 64bit install) Here is a wiki on i...

Re: Installing wine but no .wine folder

I found a bug on bugzilla related to this.

Apparently you need to

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install --reinstall libc6-i386
something to do with libc not linking properly with wine.

Give that a shot

Re: Cinnamon, the one that slipped between my fingers

When you were in Maya, what sort of symptoms did you see?

Can your wireless card see other networks and not connect?
Does the wireless light come on but no SSIDs are visable?
Did you check the dmesg logs or the syslogs?

Re: Alternative to XBMC?

The answer to this question depends on what features you are looking for

You can try:

GeeXbox
Boxee
Elisa
Entertainer
Canola

Although I am not sure about their remote support. It has been at least 2 years since I have used Boxee or Elisa, the others I have not used at all

Re: "No such file or directory" error but file exists

Usually this is caused by not having the execute bit and/or the permissions are not set properly

Could you post the output of

Code: Select all

ls -l
I know you said that you have checked on the execute bit but lets just double check

Re: logitech C250 webcam w/no sound on Skype

When you run the "Sound" Utility from the menu, what are the input/outputs set to?

Generally in my experience, the most likely cause is that it is trying to get sound from a source other than what you expect

Re: Installing wine but no .wine folder

what happens if you run wine with an executable that doesnt require installation (such as putty?)

I have found that .wine is not usually created until wine is launched for the first time.

What sort of output do you get when you run winecfg or some software from the command line?
