Re: Please help, network connection doesnt work

Can you ping things from the CLI?

what about by ip? (for example go to a working machine, ping forums.linuxmint.com, get the ip and then try pinging it from your XFCE machine)

Quando si avvia il computer teh, premere il tasto "tab" per modificare le opzioni.

Prova ad aggiungere

It sounds like you still have the install media in the computer?

Missing some bits of information, does the Boot menu show Windows? If it does what happens when you select it?

Re: Failed to lock hardware DVD eject button

Thats an interesting problem.

I can confirm that despite the man pages eject -i on does not prevent the drive from being opened (regardless of the fact that the ouput says "CD-Drive may NOT be ejected with device button")

I dont have any specific suggestions though

Re: Help for a Complete Newbie

Hi, so the first thing you need to do is make sure that you have the package "nautilus-share" installed. Go to the "Software Manager" program and search of nautilus-share. Install it if you need to. Do the same thing for the "samba" package. After it is installed you will need to log out and back in...

Re: Dell XPS 17 (L702x) - Maya - Webcam

Hi so, a couple of things. First, please post long output inside of tags... similar to this [code] really long text [./code] (exclude the period in /code) Second, I can confirm that your Web cam is being identified as being from a Dell laptop, is this correct? If it is, I can also confirm that the d...

Re: Linux sees mic, program doesnt.

Its probably something you need to set in winecfg.

You have to do the same thing for USB keys, you have to add them into winecfg

It would be helpful to know if the system is seeing your webcam at all.

Can you launch the "System INformation" Program, and Generate a report and then attach it?

Re: Wifi wont work. Newbie.

Does your computer (laptop?) have a hardware switch to turn the wireless on and off? How about a software key (example Fn + F2 on my laptop). My wife calls me from time to time on this, its almost always related to the hardware being turned off some how. Can you give us the make/model of the wifi ca...

Re: Libreoffice spell check doesn't work

Hi,

I have actually noted a similar problem with the Canadian version of english. Every time I open LibreOffice I have to go to Tools -> Language -> For all Text -> <pick language>

I have to do this every time, without fail before the spell checker will work. Perhaps you have the same issue?

Re: Prevent mint from sleeping

So I actually have had to remove the xscreensaver before on some computers to prevent it from turning off the monitor even though there the options were set properly in the screensaver. Have you tried wyrdoak's suggestion? I have tested this myself by ssh'ing into the computer in question and runnin...
