Re: XFCE CE 7 Gloria Development update(Aug 10)

@emorrp1, So, what would you recommend: install LM7 Gnome and then install Xfce4 from the repo? Or vice-versa? Install the Xfce4 version and then Gnome. I'm partial to this choice. Or just keep on upgrading this LM7xfceRC1? Guess I'll just take a look at the final and see. I was a Kde3.5 user but un...

Re: Beautiful dual-boot install, but now I want to resize?

These are just some of my experiences with partitions. Main things to remember before fooling with partition resizing: 1. Make a backup on separate media of *anything* you can't replace. Or don't want to lose. 2. Use a liveCD with Gparted 3. Start from the bottom or end of the list as much as possib...

Re: Booting XP with GRUB not possible / Partition not found

Just looked at the windows part on the AA1 and it looks like this, and I know that it boots: (doesn't always mean that it will work on yours. :) title Microsoft Windows XP Home (on /dev/sda2) rootnoverify (hd0,1) savedefault chainloader +1 If you really must get windows running & if you have a windo...

Re: First Impressions

Hello old_salt, Haven't tried ext4. Guess no great need but I'm glad that many are testing it. Sounds like you might have a CD writer that is dying. It's a pain that they aren't as long lasting as one might expect. I finally changed one only a year old that had been giving problems writing. Similar ...

Re: Booting XP with GRUB not possible / Partition not found

This seems correct and should boot windows. If not, add "boot" command at the bottom.
Sometimes it seems to be needed, others not.

Perhaps a KVM switch to connect two computers to the same keyboard, monitor & mouse.
Then you can switch between a Linux box and a Windows box from the same chair.
Play or work as desired, permitted, etc. :)

Re: Problems with Configuring Printer

I have a similar problem to gavinjb with my HP1020. Under Debian testing I could install it and it would maintain it's configuration after cycling the power. With Mint7xfce it seems to lose configuration. I use the driver from http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/ This used to be the most reliable. [I'll try th...

Re: How to make the touchpad turn off automatically when typing

Thanks, Husse! For Xfce4 substitute mousepad for gedit in Gnome, all the rest is the same. This is a great little tool for the AA1. The little touch pad is very sensitive when typing in unusual positions. I usually connect a mouse but it's a pain also. Now I don't scroll the screen by accident while...

Re: Grub error

NOTE: I see someone answered while I was trying out mint grubs on a couple of boxes. :) Everything really depends on being able to get a working boot CD. I'd go to a local cyber and download and burn a new MintCD as well as a couple of other choices. Be deliberate and read carefully any messages. I ...

You are right. It is there in Thunar. Just hadn't tried right clicking which brings up Subir/Upload.
Thunar is more and more a handy app.

Re: Suggestions for MintInstall

I understand DrHU's reasoning to keep Synaptic accessible. My main reason to go to Synaptic is that I haven't found how to install more than 1 app at a time with mintinstall. That would remove the greatest limitation to mintinstall, IMHO. But then maybe that is a part of the design to make it more "...

Re: Linux Networking with SSH

Running mint7xfce RC1. I remember seeing mintUpload when first installed mint7gloria but it isn't available at present in the xfce CE versi9on. Perhaps in the final release of mint7xfce. I use Krusader which is great for connecting and transferring files to and fro via wireless or wired. Krusader wa...

Re: installed Gloria xfce

Installed Xfce RC1 a few days ago.
Fast, stable, works as expected, only Krusader & K3b from Kde4.

Anything in particular need testing?
I haven't found anything that doesn't work.

Seems very well done for an RC1.
Looking forward to the final, just to have for any new installs.

Re: Howto: Install Mint from a USB Pendrive/SD

I've been using Unetbootin from the repository to put MintXfceRC1 on an AA1 and another desktop. Worked fine for me and less hassle. Do have to use Alt & Left-Click to drag some windows to see the buttons. After install it settles down. Had to click on the network icon in the tray and select my wire...

Správca softvéru? [SOLVED]

Installed the Xfce RC1 and see this entry in the main menu: Správca softvéru Since the rest of the menu is in Spanish, I am curious what it means. Clicking on it asks for my password. So far I have resisted. Congratulations on the Mint7 Xfce RC1. So far everything seems to be working as expected. A ...
