Re: Firefox 13 Default Start Page
...and Firefox 50 by Christmas... I love a funny smart-aleck  Thank you. My years have made me cynical, but I like to keep people laughing if I can. What Firefox is doing may not seem good, but it is mathematically predictable: The amount of bloat, memory consumption, and "breakages"...

Re: Firefox 13 Default Start Page
Hello. I'm sorry that your question is difficult to answer. But with all the excitement over Firefox 14 being released in two weeks , and Firefox 50 by Christmas, Firefox 13 appears to be just another moot release among a profusely bleeding stream of moot releases. It's hard for me to take Firefox r...

Re: Linux Mint 13 Xfce RC released!
# AlbertP That looks handy. Thank you. It looks like the same place I got data about switching to unstable / experimental. I'll have to have a deeper look at "http://community.linuxmint.com" It would seem to be a completely different entity than the forum or the main web site, and it seems...

Re: Linux Mint 13 Xfce RC released!
Is this something we need to install only, or can we upgrade to it?
I'll check the settings on my update manager to see what I come up with....

Re: Update pack 4, should I do it?
If I installed LMDE last week, do I already have Update Pack 4? I visited the mirrors listed on the other thread: there's a directory for indices, docs, etc. I wouldn't know what to download from there. How could I? Is there a thread that explains what we should download from there? E.g. "When ...

Re: POLL: Are you tracking new Mint Repo or "Debian Testing"
there's only one way to know :) Oh, yes! I love this... Should we be "reporting" our findings? mame 0.146 unstable -> working well, so far. I was presented with an option to replace my mame.ini file with the developer's new mame.ini , which I did. /etc/mame/mame.ini was replaced and renam...

Re: POLL: Are you tracking new Mint Repo or "Debian Testing"
I sincerely hope that I am doing this correctly, but I followed the instructions on this link: http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/250 Therefore, I assume that I am tracking Debian unstable. I upgraded OpenArena to 0.8.8-5/Debian and it works fine. I'll try a couple of more packages, but I'...

Re: Desktop Screenshots Thread - July 2012
Linux Mint Debian Edition Openbox Session I'm a minimalist. No panel: if I need to know the time, I'm a click away from it. I have a watch. Precisely. A panel just takes up space and resources. I keep a 24 pixel margin at the top of the window for mouse-clicking, scrolling between desktops, etc.

help with simple(?) script
I thought it was simple (I had to post using the "quote" function because the "code" function produces illegible text. I never cared for CSS styles.) # mount the dvd udisks --mount /dev/sr1 #1 cd /media #2 ls #3 The script will successfully mount the dvd. ( #1 ) The script will n...

Thank you.

Disable Window Animations
I did a search for this on the forum before I joined. I may have missed it. The windows are animated when I Maximize / Minimize them. I want them disabled. Based on answers I found in my search: 1. The animation works fine. There is nothing wrong with the video card. I need the animation "disab...

Hello from nowhere California
Hello. I just installed LMDE XFCE Version yesterday, and I am very pleased. I just changed over from Lubuntu. Boot time is a tad slower, but it could be because of the grub menu. I find that Linux is easy to learn, but that the nuances of each distro is what must be overcome. I tried a live version ...
