Re: Ubiquity can't load the partiotioner

Hey Husse, I finally discovered what was that DDRY Emask Error stuff. You were right, as always: I realized my Bios Setup was showing my ZIP drive not as IOMEGA ZIP-100 as it should be, but some weird, corrupted names like Zi`OME 980 -,, `` or other odd combinations. Then I thought "and if I remove ...

Re: How to pulse and make it default audio manager on KDE

Nevermind. I removed pulse and then created a file .asoundrc with a config I found somewhere on the web. Now it works : )

Thx.

How to pulse and make it default audio manager on KDE

Hi there, On Gnome version I managed, with the help of Husse, to enable 5.1 sound on my Linux. Now, with the KDE version, I tried to do the same steps I took before and discovered that pulse is not installed. I installed it manually but when I start it something bad happens and it crashs on command ...

Cyber Snipa GamePad

Hi there,

I recently bought a Cyber Snipa GamePad, it looks like the Nostromo n52, but less powerful. I would love to know how to get it working under my KDE Elyssa. Anyone knows how to do that?

Thx in advance.

Re: Ubiquity can't load the partiotioner

Hey Husse, news about that problem: it must be a kernel problem or something like that. I tested it with four different distros (Mint Elyssa, Mint Elyssa KDE, Ubuntu Feisty Fawn and Kubuntu Hardy Heron) on three different machines, all them showed the same problem, sooner or later.

What about this?

Re: KDE4 Suggestions and New Ideas

The start menu of KDE was always a bit confuse to me, with duplicated names and entries... the Gnome one is cleaner and better. If my point has any weight I would say to stick with KDE 3.5 until 4.2 is out, 'cause is clear that 4 and 4.1 are unstable and unfinished in many ways. I think the KDE CE E...

Is there a program to verify filesystem?

Hi there, After like a million of energy blackouts here I have a feeling my filesystem needs some check and repair. The problem is that e2fsck is useless with the HD mounted, and I can't umount it with the system up. So, anyone knows a program or method to check and repair HD's like so many Windows ...

Re: Ubiquity can't load the partiotioner

All my data is on the SATA, and that's a new one. If it's hardware error, it should be on one of the IDE's. But something weird happens here: I pulled all my HD's out and booted from the live-dvd, and the same error shows up! I seeked on various forums around there and it seems that this problem is ...

Re: Ubiquity can't load the partiotioner

No, it`s simple: two IDE hd`s and one SATA. One IDE has a Mint Elyssa fully installed (just a SWAP and a root partition), the SATA is for data, and the other IDE is reserved for the x64 KDE Mint. It`s funny, there must be something happening on my hardware: two weeks past the Mint Elyssa i386 instal...

Ubiquity can't load the partiotioner

Hi there, I downloaded the x64 KDE version of Elyssa, burned the DVD with the slowest speed and it booted nice (in fact, I'm writing this from the live-dvd). But when I try to install, ubiquity hangs up with error code 10 just before the partitioner kicks. This is the /var/log/syslog: Oct 30 16:36:3...

Wvdial dials too slow, so can't get signal

Hi there, Something must had happened with my fresh install, without dual-booting XP: a series of problems appeared and, after setting my system the way I like, I'm not inclined to redo all the work again to see if everything goes fine again (my net is a trash). So, I'm trying to solve all the probl...

Re: USB mouse ramdomy stops working.

Sorry if I was slow to reply. My BIOS has the USB legacy option, and it was already enabled. Instead, I disabled the USB 2.0 option: now it´s only 1.1. That apparently solved the problem. What drives me nut is why this didn't happen before the fresh install. I will try the legacy option later (I'm a...

USB mouse ramdomy stops working.

Hi there. Been out for a while (no net last months...), but I was using Mint dualbooting with XP during that time. No problems so far, the system was perfectly stable and fast. Everything running good. I got a GSM net here, it uses a cell-phone to connect. It's like dial-up, but faster. So I decided...

Re: How to get 5.1 channels working on WoW+Wine?

Bump. I contacted blizz about this issue. The answer was: "We do not support our games on Linux". Plain and simple. Then I argumented that WoW runs on Wine, and is therefore running on an API very similar to the Windows one. For any matter, the solution would be pretty much the same, should I was us...

How to get 5.1 channels working on WoW+Wine?

Hi there, Husse helped me getting my 5.1 surround sound working on my Mint, and is amazing! But when I play WoW only the rear and front speakers work, the sub/center doesn't. I think is a problem of misconfiguration on Wine, or perhaps a Config.confused missetting. It could be a current bug on wine ...

Re: How-to Keep nVidia resolution after reboot.

Hey man, it worked now! I ran a command to repeatedly send different sound to each speaker, then I plugged and unplugged each jack to see what would happen. I discovered the black jack is only for 7.1. For 5.1 the right is: green (front), gray(rear) and orange(sub/center). Then I toggled between var...

Re: How-to Keep nVidia resolution after reboot.

Well, looks like it worked, partially... I get sound from the rear, central and subwoofer ones, but the front speakers are missing. My connector are like this: orange O black O gray O pink O green O blue O The orange and the black aren't getting any signal, only the gray (rear speakers) and green (s...

Re: How-to Keep nVidia resolution after reboot.

Yeah - unfortunately one cannot trust nvidia-settings Ive got an ASUS K8N4-E which is nforce4 and I use a 2+1 system connected to green. (I think ASUS calls it Lime) This (of course ?) works well One guy writes I was modding my box and had removed the front panel audio connections from my mobo. Hav...

Re: How-to Keep nVidia resolution after reboot.

I ran nvidia-settings and it messed up my display big time . To get back to ground zero i ran X -config -configure and all is OK , but basic settings. don You must reinstall the nvidia driver. I used EnvyNG with no problems, just get an internet connection, chose your card and voilà, everything fin...

Re: How-to Keep nVidia resolution after reboot.

Ok, I got your point. But, anyway, we must not let the nvidia-settings save the changes itself, opened as root or not, 'cause it will mess everything up. And while we are here, perhaps you can help me with a matter: I have a nForce 4 chipset which comes with 5.1 channels, but no sound whatsoever. St...
