Re: How to connect to the fastest mirrors of repos

Menu-> Software Sources
In the Official repositores tab, choose from the select on list called "Select a mirror", wait a few seconds, and you see a list of ping times. Good ping times usually corresond to a fast connection.

Re: Install Mint on a Macbook with no existing OS X

Not recently, but I've used other peoples Mac books with linux mint live cds and live usbs. The only issue I had was having to purchass an external mouse. I didn't need a guide, because it was simple. Boot camp dual boot is a complex task, thus they have guides. Something about holding Open-Apple C ...

Re: Upgraded to Olivia; need to downgrade MySQL to 5.1

Perhaps if you do a code checkout of MySQL 5.1 and compile. I don't believe grabbing the old binaries will be compatible. I noticed this guide suggests using the CVS program called bazaar http://dev.mysql.com/tech-resources/articles/getting-started-with-bazaar-for-mysql.html You want to checkout a s...

iironjade wrote: Why would "ux" ever be pronounced "ex"?
Since people started spelling it Unix. Since Linux is based off unix, we tend to prounce it similear. I wrote Ex since it makes a phonetic sound matching better than Uhhhhx. Again, remeber the abbreviation is *nix.

Re: mint 15 on a new desktop - advice for basic user

i3 processor+mobo, 6GB of RAM, a 1TB HD and DVD that price seems reasonable. Bargon Bundle Computers are usually priced approparatly. Instead of buying insurance or extended warenty, spend that same money on a better power supply with high efficiency. Also be carefull with some HP or brand computers...

Does not sound too good. Perhaps its time for an upgrade. LM15 may bee too much for this guy to handle if you expect internet video/flash.

I use minecraft on LM 15 and have NEVER had a crash. The only bug is from my keyboard, but that only results in deaths. 1) Investigaion of drivers. Did you enable your fglrx drivers? Do you have other games which you can leave playing all night? 2) Investigation of bad Hardware; Have you tried the p...

So, although the program runs under wine, it fails when it does not have its windows only print driver in linux. Thus it prints it as a normal page. I'm actually supprised that it made it this far through the program. Suggestion 1: Is there a place for you to select the PRINT TRAY? You probally want...

Re: Recover data from Drive to which Mint was installed?

Also, it seem the terminology Harddrive is at play here. The partitioner really finds 'storage devices' or 'serial storage deives'. Even though it found a HD, the OP through HD ment internal HD. This normally isn't a problem, except his external USB HD came through as /dev/sda (unconfirmed). Yes, Te...

Re: Recover data from Drive to which Mint was installed?

This guy lost his data. Be nice. This is really a disguised bug report/feature request. In reality, there should be more information displayed about the harddrive before you format it. For example, show a few folder names, and indicate if certain folder exist (c:\windows or c:\winnt), perhaps list t...

I noticed this error a long time ago. I read the description, where it said how to fix it. This program is only provided for compatibility and will be removed in a future release. Please use avconv instead. It looks like multiconverter calls ffmpeg. Some possible workarounds: 1) So you can change th...
