I'm guessing its not made for KDE. I'm using it (looking great) on LM Cinnamon, with multiple monitors and nvidia proprietary drivers.

Re: Steam displays on hidden window - Display/Compositing is

In most linux DE, You can move a window from anywhere (not just title-bar) if you hold alt while clicking. I lost a steam window once. I just did my best guessing where the window's location was while holding alt, before clicking and dragging random sections of the 'dark' screen onto the visiable sc...

Re: "Macro Recorder"

I have not had suscess with screen recorders, but the playback is quite nice. The following script demonstrates many types of functions, while using the clipboard to transfer data to gnome-terminal on Linux Mint Cinnamon. Install xmacroplay sudo apt-get install xmacroplay I have an executable named ...

Re: How to move a partition to another drive? MBR modificati

I'm not gonna kid you, I use clonezilla because it is the best tool, but it is very unforgiving. I really would suggest doing a few trial runs inside a VM. My piece of advice, the menu's aren't too friendly, if you make a single mistake on a dialogbox you need to reboot. Never press back, never pres...

Re: Installing Mint in VirtualBox on iMac?

LOL. I wrote a linux command. Of course you can't use apt-get to install virtualbox. You will need to install using the mac installer.

For some reason, (as I do), I assumed you run linux on your iMac and would like to use Linux within Linux. Ovbiously, you are still running osx.

Re: Unable to remove suspected malicious data

What is logrotate? What does it do? logrotate is a program which manages/changes the way logs are organized. Normally, log files keep on growing and growing. The longer a particular log file is, the longer it takes to place text at the end. Thus a fast system is one with small log files. Instead of...

Re: How do I 'clean up' clutter?

why can't we completely wipe that old garbage out? The benefit of removing empty directories (file system inodes), does not outweight the risk involved from removeing their existance. Being of the same mind as you, I reinstall often. Maintining a system is difficult and never consistant. Reinstalli...

Re: How to move a partition to another drive? MBR modificati

If you don't want to save the MBR. why don't you copy the files on the partition. It would give you the added benefit of de-fragmenting your HD. It is very possible to copy a partition to another disk, try to keep their partition sizes exactly the same, your DD command will be very risky. The progra...

Re: Creating ISO from USB

SpinRight is a nifty piece of software which I have never used. Ising the word ISO is wrong. I really doubt that you want to create an ISO of your USB drive. An ISO does not have the code to run early kernal code while booting through USB. A Bootable USB does not have the code to run CDROMs. A boota...

Re: Mint needs to allow root access from GUI interface

simple, you can elevate the privilages (temporarly) of the file browser access when logged in using your normal user account. Cinnamon: gksudo nemo ~ KDE: kdesudo dolphin ~ Gnome: gksudo nautilus ~ In your example rm *.doc would still be risky, cause aparently you are logged in using a root account....

Re: Installing Mint in VirtualBox on iMac?

It will work. sudo apt-get install virtualbox Mainly, after installing VBox, you need to create a VM machine and edit the settings to use your downloaded linuxmintx86.ISO as the bootable CD-ROM. Look for a small add button in the settings page, after highlighting the CD-ROM. Then Boot/Start the VM.

Have you just shot down all attempts to help you? It seems that we all don't understand what you want. Take a moment and describe using descriptive sentences. Please describe using proper nouns with verbs to how you see yourself using a system. (For example, you don't place peanut butter on bread, y...

you need to use the kde equivlant. I also don't know KDE's terminal name. The code above assumes a gnome environment. I don't know the KDE commands.
