Re: with cinnamon upgrade came new window manager

Maybe you should install : mint-meta-debian-cinnamon and mint-meta-debian-mate

And check that you have uninstalled mint-x-theme and installed mint-themes

Re: UPDATE PACK 5 FEEDBACK THREAD

Doing that fixed the problem, and right now it's installing the meta-cinnamon files. All 38.000+ packages are there again. Still I wonder why it didn't change the mirror during the installation. The one I choose then was http://mirror.rts-informatique.fr/linuxmint/debian, but now I changed it to ht...

Re: UPDATE PACK 5 FEEDBACK THREAD

http://www.freeimagehosting.net/a543y I just finished installing UP5, and this happened. There are only 2436 packages in the software manager and the window themes are all messed up. Also there's no reduce button, just the close window one. What happened? And how can I fix this? Did you install min...

Re: Fonts after upgrade

Thinking out loud about what I've just read when I followed GeneC's links... :D [...] Though I have some doubts about some of the fonts (not all of them) in Firefox. And I don't use Chrome. Moreover, my eyes are quite tired from today's tinkering with all this font stuff, so I may have missed somet...

Re: UPDATE PACK 5 FEEDBACK THREAD

Ok, I'm using cinnamon 1.6 and nemo, with UP5 working well.

How serious is the risk of breakage if I install these two libraries ?

Re: UPDATE PACK 5 FEEDBACK THREAD

Clem,

Does it mean that if we do not follow Testing, installing the new libcairo will increase the quality of the font ?

Re: UPDATE PACK 5 FEEDBACK THREAD

- subpixel font rendering/antialiasing is not as good as it used to be. Fonts seem a bit pixelated and with noticeable chroma aberration although subpixel rendering works (LG 2370V-BF IPS panel, connected using DVI) I think I can confirm this. The chance is small but the font seems not as good as b...

Re: UPDATE PACK 5 FEEDBACK THREAD

Sometimes when I run it I do get one or 2 servers that show a 20-30 Kbps. That's just simply too slow to reasonably do this UP. Besides, it's only going to hold up for a little while at an even lower speed and then break the connection. I am having difficult fathoming that there is such a large num...

Re: Where to put these??

If you don't know how to change your sources.list, then you should probably not be using incoming... But if you want to try, you should paste the previous lines in your sources.list file : In a terminal type : sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list And then replace the lines in the files by the previous o...

Re: LMDE updates rarely?

1) You will receive an Update pack in 1 or 2 weeks when it will be ready.

2) Even if the team releases a new iso, you are not obliged to reinstall everything because you will already have the same system by updating.

Re: Difference with regular Debian ?

I think you got an answer here : http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=199&t=108220&p=616586#p616586 I would just say that Update Pack are increasing stability and offering new softwares in the same time compare to Debian Testing who can be a little bit more touchy to use. That's the big advan...
