Re: When did you come to Linux?

On the day I registered here. :) This was a few years ago. But back in those days no Linux distro (Mint included) was what it is now, so I stayed with Windows during that time. Not to mention there were some major issues that I managed to fix or circumvent only in the past month, so that I can use L...

Have you tried CobiWindowList?
I just did. It seems to be the only one capable of doing what I needed - reducing the window list to mere icons and removing the preview thumbnails. Thanks.

What about the browser you use? Try with a different one. I never had this problem with Chromium.

Re: Missed Linux :(

its such a pain .... cant believe i was a windows fan 2 moths ago It depends on what you're using it for. Some games still run a lot better on Windows than they do on Linux. Like American Truck Simulator, for instance. GTA 5 has no Linux version. That's why I haven't erased the Windows installation...

I just edited my signature, so that I don't have to write the same info every time.

[SOLVED] Is there any way to edit the width of windows without installing applets?

Is there any way to edit the width of windows that appear on the panel without installing any applets? I've already tried the available for download applets and neither one does what I need, so I was hoping there's an ini file somewhere I could edit. The problem is idk where that file might be.

Re: [SOLVED] Bad distortion in all Mint types

The meta package is installed, indeed. Since I haven't done this manually, it must have come together with the "3rd party drivers" I chose before I began the installation process of Mint.

Re: Bad distortion in all Mint types

Have you installed mint-meta-codecs? Because as of Mint 18 the nonfree codecs aren't installed by default and Mint has a reputation for not needing 3rd party codecs which is no longer true. I can't seem to find a list of modules in that package but I strongly suspect libasound2-plugins-extra is the...

Software manager keyerror

Software manager (mininstall) won't start. Which is weird because it did work normally until 20 minutes ago when I had to reboot the system in order to change fan speeds in the UEFI. But now it won't start at all - I click on its icon and nothing happens, it doesn't even appear as a running process ...

Re: Cinnamon VS Mate VS KDE VS XFCE. A list of comments I found around.

Imo XFCE is better than KDE because XFCE's settings are more intuitive and easier to find. Not only the panel settings but also those in the menu. KDE settings are grouped by type while XFCE are not which makes them easier to find for newbies like me. Besides, XFCE has more colors while KDE looks li...

Re: Bad distortion in all Mint types

Thanks for the suggestions, guys, but I think I figured it out, after hours of reading and digging through Google. After installing libasound2-plugins-extra all distortions disappeared like with a magic wand. So imo the problem is solved and this topic could remain for the next guy who encounters th...

Re: Bad distortion in all Mint types

I tried everything I could think of, checked all the settings, I even asked for help more experienced users than me and no matter what I do the distortion is there. I even changed players. The only player with the least distortion (but still has it) is VLC. All others - Amarok, Clementine, Audacious...

[SOLVED] Bad distortion in all Mint types

I'm not sure the topic is for here but I don't see where else to post it. In all Mints (18 included) there's bad sound distortion even at the lowest volume level of all mp3 files for both PulseAudio and ALSA. If the song has a lot of bass, it's the worst. While with all types of Ubuntu 18 (KDE, XF, ...

Re: Problem with booting from USB (UEFI) - bug report

Maybe I forgot to mention that when the places are changed - USB with Windows installer and the DVD has either Live Linux distro or something else on it, that doesn't happen and the flash drive boots normally. That's why we thought it was a Linux bug.

Problem with booting from USB (UEFI) - bug report

I couldn't find any section for bug reports, so I'll post it here. I found a bug with all distroes (not just Mint) but since Mint is the one I like the most, I decided to report it here. When a bootable USB is selected to be booted (computer's boot menu, usually launched by pressing F11) and there's...

So don't worry.
OK, but Windows 7 displays full 32 GB. And my video card has 4GB VRAM of its own, so I doubt it would need these 700 more.

18.3 Cinn doesn't read RAM properly

I just got and installed the last memory plate of 8GB (32GB totally). However, system monitoring of Min 18.3 Cinn shows 31,3GB total. Why is that? Where did my other 700MB RAM go?

Re: How to install .cur file on Mint 18.3 Cinn?

Is there any command to tell that program to "convert everything in this folder to png"? Cuz there are 39 elements and I really don't feel like converting them manually one by one.
