Why do you wanna keep with 17? It's the worst version ever!

v19 still needs more work on it, altough it does work a little better than v18.

Difference between actors voices and action scenes volume

Until recently I had this problem on movies: actors voices sounded so quiet that sometimes it was impossible to understand they were saying while action scenes and explosions were so loud that they could tear the building down. Anyway, I just got this problem solved. However, I can't help but wonder...

Re: PC Sleep Mode Issue

That's because Winbooze 10 isn't really shut down. There was a way to enable complete shut down but I don't remember what it was. But by default Winbooze 10 doesn't really turn itself down.

Re: Is dual booting a security issue?

so You can't let a friend or family member use your computer "for just a minute" to check their email or their whataps. Yes, you can. That's why smart people wrote Clonezilla. Even if your friend or family member screws things up, you can always restore from the backup. ;) For that reason I keep ba...

Re: USB data transfer issues

The speed of transfer is determined by the default allocation space (DAS). The higher that space the higher the transfer speed. When the maximum DAS is used, the device can read/write with its maximum supported speed. Windows formatting tools display a menu where to select the DAS but I'm not sure i...

They are virtually guaranteed to fail anyway at some point.
it depends on what you're using the beta for and how. I'm a relatively new user too but I just installed the beta and despite the few bugs I discovered since yesterday, it still works a lot better than 18.3.

How can I make Nemo windows and right click menu semi-transparent?

I downloaded and installed probably the coolest theme out there called Cinnamox-Rhino and it has some settings for transparency. It changed the menu and the panel to a very cool level of transparency (see the screenshot) but it can't do the same with the desktop/window right click menu and with the ...

Re: 18.3 Cinn doesn't read RAM properly

Also note that Windows of course does the exact same; it clearly needs room for itself and its data in no other way than Linux. It just chooses to "not confuse you". Oh, I had forgotten about this topic. This is what I got from the terminal: nx-01@NX-01-Mint19:~$ dmesg -t | grep "^Memory:" M...

selling Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon DVD's for $3.00 each. No one in their right mind would pay whatever sum for something that the developers offer completely free for download, especially me. You can make copies and hand them over absolutely free of charge and let these people decide whether they wan...

Difference in RAM appearance between Windows 7 and Linux (Mint)

Hi, everyone. :) I have a very stupid question: I have 32GB RAM installed and Windows 7 reads "32GB RAM installed" while Linux Mint always shows "31.3GB RAM". Why is that? Why not "32GB RAM installed"? Where did these 0.7GB go? I doubt I'll ever be able to fill the whole 32GB RAM, so it's not an iss...

[request] Fix the sudden CPU load when opening an app

I just installed the Beta of Mint 19 Cinnamon (I've been waiting for 19 for over a month) and I gotta say you've done great job so far. But there remains one thing it seems you have missed: when I run an application by clicking its icon, the CPU load spikes up suddenly, rising the temperature from 3...

Make a decent power management control

I hope some day you will make a decent power and CPU management control. In the last few days the weather in my country became hotter and with this the idle temperature of my CPU went up - 42 degrees Celsius for doing nothing - Audacious with an online radio and Chromium running. If I run a game, it...

Question about an update that just popped up (linux-base 4.5)

I just got a notice from the updater about an update marked as an orange number 4 and it reads "Linux base" and "Linux base image package version4.5ubuntu~16.04.1". I don't know what that is. Is it something critical to improve performance of Cinnamon and should I install it or not? https://s31.post...

HI rado84, I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. What archiving application are you using? Are you sure there is not a browser icon running in the system tray panel, because some browsers like Chrome and others have the "run in background" option wh...
