Why won't my PC boot from the optical disc drive so I can install Mint?

Greetings, I'm trying to install Linux Mint 18 on my desktop PC from a DVD disc. I tried to go into CMOS/BIOS and set the boot priority to "DVD drive first" then save and exit. However, whenever I reboot my PC it still continues to boot to the hard disc first which brings up Windows 10. It never eve...

Problem with Flash player inside Firefox web-browser again

Hello, A recent update to my Mint 17.1 install has hosed the Flash player again (it seems like this is beginning to become a regular ordeal---> update=broke, fix, update=broke, fix, rinse, repeat... etc.). It only works for playing online streaming videos in the FireFox web browser for about 10 seco...

Is there a utility which shows most frequently used apps?

Hello, Is there some kind of utility or "app" in Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon edition that tracks which are my most used programs and which are my least used? Seems like there used to be such a utility built into Windows and it would allow me to uninstall never-used programs to get them out of the way a...

By default, Firefox in Mint comes pre-installed with add-ons, extensions, appearances, plugins and language packs that I don't use nor want on my system. Is Flashplayer embedded in Firefox a feature of Linux Mint?

Hello,
I have a question about Flashplayer being embedded within the Firefox web browser in Linux Mint Cinnamon edition 17.1.
Is this a feature of Linux Mint itself or of Firefox web browser itself?
Thank you

I need an application that will search for local documents

Hello, I remember using an application called "Picasa" by Google on my old Windows PC before I switched over to using Linux in the last couple years. I thought it was a pretty neat utility for organizing images on my hard drive. It had a neat feature that grouped images by likeness. It also had face...

How do I get back my text menu in Mozilla Firefox browser?

Hello, I did something I didn't mean to on my FireFox Mozilla web-browser. Somehow I accidentally reset the settings and now it's changed everything significantly different. I no longer see the words “file, edit, view, etc., etc.” at the top bar on the left hand side where I relied on those menu's. ...

How do I reset folder color upon creating new folders?

Hello,
Whenever I create a new folder and set on my desktop it is automatically rendered in the default mint green color. Is there a way I can change that so that it is gray colored instead every time I create a new folder?
Thanks

Re: Is there a way to back-date to an earlier version?

Gosh even Microsoft corporation with it's crappy Windblows eventually figured out their OS sucked and decided to include a "rollback" feature so the user could "roll it back to an earlier date when it worked properly". Maybe Linux Mint needs a feature similar to this

Greetings, I just recently upgraded my Linux Mint install from version 17.0 to 17.1 and now that I have been running this modest update for a little while now, I think I'm beginning to detect some sluggishness and mild sticking problems I wasn't experiencing with the earlier version (particularly wi...

Linux Mint Debian Edition 2 soon being released as "stable"

Greetings, In a previous post someone replied to one of my questions about Linux Mint Debian Edition 2 and said that it is currently in Debian Testing phase and that in a few weeks it would be released as Debian Stable. I was not aware of this and I'm glad to hear that it will be moving over to a "s...
