Re: Lost files saved from Linux onto a Windows partition [SOLVED

I marked this solved, as it was not a Linux problem after all (no surprise there). My mistake - I saved the files on the external backup drive in error.

Lost files saved from Linux onto a Windows partition [SOLVED

Hello all - I've been confidently saving files from OpenOffice onto an NTFS Windows partition, having read that read/write support is present in Mint Elyssa. Until now, I've been able to open the files and resume working on them - no problem. But now, the files have disappeared. They don't show up i...

Dell Inspiron LED cycles on/off after Ctrl/CapsLock swap

On my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1501), I configured a keyboard Control/Capslock swap using Control Center and now the CapsLock LED still turns on/off every time I hit the new "Control" key (former CapsLock). This is very annoying, as I use WordStar-style control-key combinations in OpenOffice. Any way t...

Re: What Mint is based on

I recently visited a blog that published a lengthy, scathing run-down of the bugs in Hardy Heron. I'm sorry to hear that Mint follows close on the heels of the latest Ubuntu. Re: mintWifi in the Wiki - solutions for wireless

User should note the following re Elyssa: UPDATE Putting scripts in /etc/acpi/resume.d/ doesn't work anymore as Hardy uses pm-utils for suspend/hibernate. The solution is to place this script in /etc/pm/sleep.d/ I have an Inspiron 1501, and using this script location worked for me (the other locatio...

Re: Newbie questions

Hello again,

I tried the first answer - "right-click on desktop, desktop settings, behavior tab, you'll find icon size there." But there's no "desktop settings" option in the right-click menu. I'm using the Gnome version of Mint. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Newbie questions

I have Elyssa installed and have some small questions:

1. Is there a way to make desktop icons smaller?

2. When I minimize a program, it simply disappears - no tab for the program appears in the bottom bar. ???

Thanks for any help.
