Re: Since UP7 Caja no longer offers safe removal of USB-HDD

I agree with this. It's probably the same problem with me. When I put in a USB-stick, then it can only be ejected, but not safely removed. Also, my DVD-player is out of order. I cannot play CDs or DVDs any more. Manufacturer is HP, everything was fine with previous kernel (3.2.0-4 and 3.2.0-3). I ho...

Re: no thumbnails after UP-7 [SOLVED]

Well, it's my own very pleasant duty to offer some sincere gratitude to the great team of the Mint developers once again! I've just passed through the most recent upgrade in the Update Manager. There came new versions of libmatedesktop, mate-desktop, mate-desktop-common, mint flashplugin and mint-x-...

no thumbnails after UP-7 [SOLVED]

I'm using Mate 1.6. I made a successful upgrade to UP-7 through my Update Manager, but I have lost all the thumbnails in Documents. Pictures and PDF documents do not have thumbnails any more. Only generic icons can be seen. Here is what I tried to do: First I checked the File Management Preferences ...

Emerson, since you are using Mate, you might try this:

Re: Mate 1.6

So, everything is perfect as far as I'm concerned. I only had to adapt my shortcuts and that's it! Not a single icon on my Desktop is lost and everything works perfectly well.
Great job of Mint developers again and many congratulations!! Keep up with the good work!

Here is how my desktop looks like after upgrading from Mate 1.4 to Mate 1.6. Nothing has changed. I also added some information from my Package Manager.

Re: Mate 1.6

Here is what I did. I had the version Mate 1.4 and then I upgraded it to the 1.6 through my Update Manager. I admit I did not like the new look, but never mind of that. Unfortunately, I made an error with logging-in and was unable to run. As I was in hurry and there was no time to ask for an advice,...

Re: Mate 1.6

Sorry, Bancha, but could you be more specific? What did you exactly do to run this script and to get the Menu in the new version Mate 1.6? I've also failed to get the usual Mint Menu after upgrading to Mate 1.6.

Re: HP Deskjet 1125c, not recognized [SOLVED]

Hello! After several months of fruitless attempts I have finally made my old printer working (i.e. without interfering of oldstable Debian Squeeze 6.3, which is the distro I had to use in live mode to make it working). I followed the advice given at this link: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p...

Re: HP Deskjet 1125c, not recognized

Just for the record: I tried to run this printer HP 1125 c with Debian Wheezy 7.0 Live, but there was no reply. It remained dead as before. However, then I tried to run with Wheezy an even older printer (HP 656c). It worked perfectly. As I can see, kernel is the same in Wheezy and in LMDE (3.2-0.4)....

Re: HP Deskjet 1125c, not recognized

I checked my printer with Debian Live 6.0.3. It worked fine, I got the test page without problems. I see that this version of Debian uses CUPS 1.4.4. I assumed there may be problems with CUPS in LMDE and tried to install new CUPS (python-cups 1.9.62-0ubuntu1-amd64.deb), but it was a failure, with th...

Re: HP Deskjet 1125c, not recognized

I tried to follow Lizbeth's advice from the similar topic and I installed through Synaptic HPLip, but nothing has changed. When I try to print a document from the LO Writer, I only see 'Generic printer', instead of my DeskJet 1125c, and when I checked my printer through the Control Centre, there was...

Re: HP Deskjet 1125c, not recognized

There appears a small progress... I entered these lines into terminal: sudo apt-get purge cups && sudo apt-get autoremove sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install cup and then sudo dpkg-reconfigure cups Now, LMDE can see my printer, but I still cannot use it. When I tried to print the test page, ...

Re: HP Deskjet 1125c, not recognized

I have checked this: http://hplipopensource.com/ but it was in vain, because there was no LMDE among the versions offered. It's even more strange, because I checked my printer with Debian 6.0.6 Live and it was accepted at once, no problems at all. Besides, at another PC I have HP Deskjet 656c and I ...

HP Deskjet 1125c, not recognized [SOLVED]

Hello! I have installed the new LMDE ISO on a PC with an old HP Deskjet printer 1125c. There was a Win 7 Home edition before on that computer and I have replaced it with LMDE. The printer is directly connected to the PC. It seems that LMDE has 'recognized' it, but it won't print. I did not manage to...
