Re: how to install a newer version of the Libre Office? [SOL

I did it! Thanks! Here are all the steps I took, if someone else stumbles upon the same problem: 1) download the desired version from http://www.libreoffice.org (and be careful about what you are looking for, I learned the difference between .deb and .rpm !) 2) completely remove the previous version...

Re: how to install a newer version of the Libre Office?

cd desktop-integration

how to install a newer version of the Libre Office?

I have installed the new LMDE ISO. I noticed that there is still the old version LO 3.5.4 as a default and I want to replace it LO 3.6.5. Here is what I did: 1) I uninstalled LO 3.5.4 in the Package Manager (I removed it completely) 2) I downloaded LO 3.6.5 from www.libreoffice.org, and I carefully ...

Re: Compiz 3D Accelaration and Xorg

No, I don't have any problems with daily routine. It's just that I wanted to learn a bit more about Compiz effects. For example, I was unable to make a cube, or to paint fire on my screen, although I saw they exist in my Compiz Manager.

Sorry for intruding, but may I pop in? I'm also interested in the subject, using LMDE Mate. Re: LibreOffice - frozen office

When I raised this question at another forum, someone recommended me to install LO 4.0. I am not ready to accept this advice, for there may appear another bug. I will stick to LO 3.6.4 for the time being and try to find out why it occasionally freezes (though I admit it happens so rarely). It would ...

Re: LibreOffice - frozen office

I discovered apparently the same problem with the mainstream editions, LM 13 and LM 14, and I tried to apply here the solution they advise: to disable hardware acceleration and anti-aliasing, as well as Java, but it was in vain. They even wrote the problems were only with Cinnamon, and everything we...

Re: LibreOffice - frozen office

Thank you, Paulm. But this is basically what I did when I was installing LO 3.6.4, the version I am using right now. Practically all the steps you mention here. Only it freezes sometimes and I have to restart, which can't be good.

LibreOffice - frozen office

After I experienced some problems with LO 3.5.4 (see here in detail: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=190&t=118069), I installed LO 3.6.4. My old problems while editing the texts are gone, but then another problem has appeared: LO occasionally freazes. As the version offered in LMDE repos...

Re: LibreOffice Writer 3.5.4 bug

No, I did not add PPA. When I wrote down to terminal the lines you gave me, I got the answer that the newest version is already installed. Since this was the old 3.5.4 version (which I did not like due to bug), I simply downloaded and installed the 3.6.3 version from www.libreoffice.org. I realise t...

Re: LibreOffice Writer 3.5.4 bug

Yes, it's true, I had the wrong version and discovered the right one later, with someone else's help. As far as 'my' bug is concerned, here is something more about it: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50285. But I don't understand, they should have fixed it already with the version 3.5.4...

Re: LibreOffice Writer 3.5.4 bug

I have finally managed to install my 'brand-new' version of Libre Office 3.6.3. It gave me some pain, but I did it at the end, after downloading from their official site. Unfortunately, it seems it hasn't settled the matter with that awful Superscript in the main body of my text, when only Normal sh...

Re: LibreOffice Writer 3.5.4 bug

No, I failed with installation of 3.6.2. Here is what I got: rudar@rudarlmde ~/LibO_3.6.3.2_Linux_x86-64_install-rpm_en-US $ sudo dpkg -i *.deb [sudo] password for rudar: dpkg: error processing *.deb (--install): cannot access archive: No such file or directory Errors were encountered while processi...

Re: LibreOffice Writer 3.5.4 bug

Sorry, it was not good. I tried your advice, but nothing happened. I only received a message that I already have the newest version of the LibreOffice, which is not true, for I have 3.5.4, while the newest is 3.6. This may be so because I'm using LMDE and you use LM 13, so my repositories are connec...

Re: LibreOffice Writer 3.5.4 bug

Thank you very much. I will follow your advice, though I admit I was more satisfied in my work with LO 3.4 than with LO 3.5. It seemed more reliable and there were no serious bugs (apart from this issue with unnecessary extra-spaces added in MS Word at the beginning of each footnote). I only hope th...

LibreOffice Writer 3.5.4 bug

Hello! I need your advice with the following matter. Although I'm happy with LO at home, my job requires me to use MS Office at work (I use Word 2003 there). Therefore I save all my documents written in LO Writer 3.5.4 in MS Word format. Things work fine with MS Word, apart from annoying problem tha...

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide

By following your advice, I have just created an off-line version of your manual. Congratulations for your excellent work! I am just wondering if there are any recent changes that haven't been covered there. I have recently passed through the upgrade, I have UP 5.

Hello, VincentHo. I opened this topic to introduce myself and you followed in my footsteps, instead of opening your own topic. Also, you apparently don't use LMDE. But never mind, welcome! I am inviting you to join me on LMDE.

Re: from LMDE to Debian, a long journey home

Hello everybody! Thank you for your kindness (at the very beginning, a very useful tip from Vincent). I am just a modest user, but it makes me proud to be a member of the Mint community. Although I admit I am here mostly because I am still very insecure about installing pure Debian, I will definitel...

from LMDE to Debian, a long journey home

Hello from Croatia! I have begun my adventure in GNU/Linux with LM 11, one year ago. After several attempts with Live DVD and USB, I decided to install it as my only OS. It served me well for couple of months, I was satisfied, but then I decided to take the next step and opted for LMDE. Somehow I do...
