Re: Bluetooth randomly fails
Many thanks for that. I was hoping that the BT issues had been solved over time - I recall a couple of years ago BT support/functionality was very poor and it's the main reason I didn't leave Windows. Certainly, BT is much improved over what it once was. Right now I have no problems with BT when it'...

Re: Bluetooth randomly fails
[quote="JeremyB"] If it returns 0
all wireless will stop after this
Wireless should work again, hopefully it allows bluetooth also.
Sadly, BT remained dead.
Code: Select all
cat /sys/module/ath9k/parameters/btcoex_enable
Code: Select all
sudo modprobe -rv ath9k
Code: Select all
sudo modprobe ath9k btcoex_enable=1
Sadly, BT remained dead.

Bluetooth randomly fails
Hi all, my fresh install of Mint17 Cinnamon on my Asus N750Jv laptop is frstrating me, with random fails of the bluetooth. Also on boot, around 3 times out of 4 BT fails to be active. When I open the BT settings it tells me BT is disabled. I'd really like it is BT could be made to work consistently....

Re: Speakers not working on installed Mint 17
Graphics cards that have HDMI out identify a 2nd sound card in the system since HDMI is capable of handling audio as well as video. So the graphics card does have a sound processor on it for that purpose. :) Thanks for that - I didn't know that was the case. PulseAudio didn't do much - I can't sele...

Re: Speakers not working on installed Mint 17
Many thanks for thetip - I'l certainly look into it - installed it while I was writing this.
Booted my machine into Mint this morning and speakers are producing sound. Not sure why my laptop should have two sound chips, but it certainly seems to.

Speakers not working on installed Mint 17
My machine is an Asus N750JV (with the dinky litle separate sub-woofer that keeps getting misplaced) and I dual-boot with Win 8.1 My install is just a couple of hours old and all seems to have gone well. When in the installed OS though, nearly all sound features are working - BT heapdhones, audio ja...

Re: [Solved] Dual Boot Win 8.1.Mint
Well, after rebuilding my Win install - not a difficult task, just a time-consuming one I: Got win 8 up and running again as Win 8.1 Created a backup image of my Win partition Created a fresh rescue USB Cursed the myopia of Microsoft, because the rescue USB will only restore to Win 8, not 8.1 Attemp...

Re: Dual Boot Win 8.1.Mint
Many thanks for the advice. I'll look into trying it out over the next couple of days. Regardless of results, I'll report back. Well, that didn't work quite as well as I would have liked. I manually created partitions on what used to be drive D, using all the space, leaving Windows on C. I got part...

[Solved] Dual Boot Win 8.1.Mint
As per subject line, I'm trying to accomplish this. I have a new Asus N750JV multimedia laptop fitted with a 500GB SSD. There are a number of partitions: 100MB for boot; 900MB for recovery; C drive for Win; then D drive for Linux. The standard install of the Asus-ified OS resulted int he partitions ...

Re: Bluetooth devices not being detected, Hp ProBook
Hi veggen, et al.
Thanks for the reply. Sounds like BT is a real disaster. With a BT mouse and wanting to use a BT headset, this is a deal-breaker.
I dearly want to dual-boot my machine, so I'll move on.
I wish you all the best.

Bluetooth devices not being detected, Hp ProBook
HI all, new to Mint, but been dabbling with Ubuntu for several years, and currently have Mint 13 64-bit (Cinnamon) freshly installed from within Win 7. I have a Core i5 HP Probook 4730s, and I cannot get devices detected by the internal BT service - not my mouse, phone, or BT headset. I plugged-in m...
